Former Everton striker and current assistant boss Duncan Ferguson wants to be considered for the permanent manager's job at Goodison Park following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti. (Mail)

remember when he celebrated winning at anfield against a hugely depleted Liverpool - as if they won the champions league or something......

He'd be perfect for them

Yeah I read that earlier, 4 words you never expect to hear in the same sentence "Real Madrid's Duncan Ferguson" Supposedly didn't take it because he wants the Everton job, a load of Blues I know what him to get it.

Rumours of Benitez in consideration for the Everton job?...Hope he doesn't take it as they don't deserve him...They'll ruin him if it doesn't work out as them fans will be looking for a fast start from him otherwise they'll get on his back with his LFC background/history

Yeah I hope Rafa doesn’t take it either as it’d feel weird wanting him / his team to get relegated . Prefer him to go to a Crewe or Tranmere & bring them up rather than a shit club like Ev

That would be as toxic an appointment for him as Real Madrid, Chelsea and the back end of his time with us. He's a pugnacious fucker though Rafa, he definitely gets off on the combat

if rafa went in there, he'd be all smiles at first.....delighted to be back in the premier league etc

There would be questions / focus on his comments about Everton when he was LFC manager and he would bat them off with something along the lines of how he would always focus for his club etc.

But by day 3, he would be dropping snippets about Brands and he'd get him chopped

Everton fans would hate him but he'd actually be a brilliant appointment for them. I could see him bringing yer man Calvert-Lewin to a brilliant standard. Like he did with the likes of Mista and Torres.

He would be stupid to take it. Potential to damage relations with Liverpool fans but moret han that he must know how quickly they will be on his back - especially so as an ex-red

Size of his coaching staff apparently. Too costly to sack them all after he does shite.

Be interesting to see what happens to Everton as they have slightly higher resources than CP but with a way higher expectation amongst fan base.

Will they bankrupt themselves on lightweight Portuguese players and extortionate agent fees?

In fairness they are doing a good job to bankrupt themselves anyway - the Portuguese strategy at Wolves is driven by the Chinese owning group (Fosun) and their ties to Mendes. That will continue even after Nuno has left

This could be the appointment that turns their small time fans against the ownership. However, if they were to embrace him, then he could have them competing for CL places.

I can see him bringing Calvert Lewin to the next level. In the exact same way he did with Mista and Torres and Rondon to a lesser extent.

His 4231 formation could be good for them with some of the players that they have. Calvert up top with that cunt richarlison on the left. Doucore will also do well under rafa.

It will be funny when he bombs out pickford too.

And what will be most sweet, is that Anfield will always be his spiritual home. That will make them even more bitter. If we are 2 or 3 goals to the good against them, then it will be hilarious to hear the Kop sing his name.

Makes sense for Rafa as he lives on the Wirral and loves the city but… I mean… fucking hell, Rafa. Blueshite. Jesus that’s a tough one to take…

It will absolutely boil piss for some blue shite stalwarts, so that’s maybe a silver lining…

He literally would.

His style is cautious, which is forgotten when you win but as soon as he loses a couple on the trot the fans will be onto him. Apart from another big payday and being back on Merseyside you've got to wonder why.

His family have remained based in West Kirby. A job in the Premier League that allows him to remain at home too? No great mystery why it appeals. What better offer is he getting?

Rafa was never a cautious manager with us. He had a plan and he wanted to control every element of the team and never quite got there. But he absolutely developed and maximised world class attacking talent.

Rafa has the skin of a rhino. Not surprised he might go to Everton - he's done Chelsea and Real Madrid. Just not sure Everton fans can cope.

We see it differently. We drew loads of games against poor teams, especially at home by playing cautiously. I remember being at games and the crowd were shouting attack attack attack. He tried to be clever in the CL final and fucked it. First one he got lucky and second by not playing crouch who was unplayable in Europe at that time, it was madness. I'm not glossing over all the good and we did get close to winning but we left ourselves with too much to do with the drawn games. For 2 seasons it was good fun and then it tailed off and after that rant and selling alonso it went downhill. His heart is magnificent and as a man he's right up there. Nothing but respect as a top guy but I'd never want him anywhere near the managers seat here again.
