One other thing, Gini hasn't been particularly good this season.
Sure age comes into it but Wijnaldum has just turned 30 and in his 5 seasons here has played (in all competitions) 50 games twice, 47 games twice and 42 games once (that season was his first when we hadn't qualified for Europe so played less games). By comparison Naby Keita has played 76 games in 3 seasons, Ox is 27 and has played 103 games in 4 years here, so both average ~25 games a season over their LFC career (and probably alot more of their games are from the bench than Gini's are) I don't think that their appearance record is going to improve with age. Gini's will also likely drop off but I would rather have someone what at 30 can place 50 games a season than a younger guy who can only play 25, Gini could deteriorate significantly over the next couple of years and still play more than those guys.

plus a lot of those "appearances" for the likes of Ox were 5 minute cameos at the end of games.....

Don't want to sound too petty, but if he goes to Barca I hope we get them in the CL next year and absolutely thrash them poor choice of club, should really go to Bayern.

He was great for many different reasons. We'll miss him massively I reckon. Particularly think we'll miss his press resistance.

His ability to be surrounded by players, stick his arse out, shuffle his magically Dutch feet and work the ball forward to carry out move on.

Jones and Thiago can do this already.

I'm not so sure yet, I think the fact Klopp took him out of the side the last 10 or 11 games shows us exactly where Jones is in the pecking order. Another bit part role next season imo. He's young and has talent but imo he isn't ready to be a consistent starter for us just yet.

Will miss Gini, his ability to stay fit, be available and have that engine firing in every game is rare. We have to get rid of the injury prone guys even if they have ability and "might" one day eventually get over their injury woes, it's the hope that kills you. We need squad depth and we need quality squad depth, means nothing have quality in reserve if they are never available to play or when they are available they are "just coming back" from an injury lay off.

Obviously injuries can happen to anyone but likes of Gini have the same amount of games in 7 years as Keita has since the turn of the year. Anyways he's off and best of luck to him.

For some games he was after Madrid, bit part in the last 6 games or so when we kicked into gear. He will not be a regular starter next season imo as he is not good enough yet to take that role. His is young, talented and will get plenty of game time and will get his chance to stake a claim.

Surely he wouldn't accept a pay cut? I thought he was already relatively-underpaid at Liverpool?

He'll be asking for 2-3x compared to what he's on now.. won't mean a pay cut vs his current salary.

I thought he was after a 4 year deal and Liverpool were only offering 3 ?

Strange one though, as Koeman probably getting the boot.

This feels like a very badly advised deal though he could have gone anywhere else to play for a better team and made a shitload more cash. At least he's not rocking up in Manchester.

The Barca fans are petty bastards and probably won't forgive him for that semi either

The perks of being a free agent. Fair play to him.

He never complained about being a relatively low earner for someone who was valued enough to be played every minute, while there were squad players above him on 6 figure weekly wages.

He’s earned it, good luck to him.

This is the same guy who just above says it is confirmed he is going to Barca. ITK I do not think so. If anything, a pawn in the negotiations but I suspect not even that. Just wallpaper!

He was integral in us reaching 3 European finals and winning the Champions League and our first League title in 30 years.

Good luck Gini!

Going to be tough replacing him. Lets hope whomever it may be that they can stay fit.

Gini and Robbo from the other night.

“I wish I could hug you”

“I know but we can’t”. Apparently I can’t hear anything but the stadium announcer!

€150k a week and some sort of signing fee I'd imagine. Not a bad way to see out your last few years of employment.
