I think it’s fine to appoint up and coming managers and coaches who have proven they can coach at some level within the system, I think these glamour player to manager moves rarely work.

The issue with Henry for me is that he displays few of the personality traits of a good manager. He strikes me as slightly aloof (ok, he is French) and doesn’t excuse the drive or focus you’d expect in a manager. Coach, maybe, manager no.

He may prove otherwise, but I doubt he will ever make it as a top manager.

Rafa won't leave Newcastle now. If he does, it will be next year.

Yeah, Rafa finally got some cash to spend.

He’s way too honourable a guy to jump ship from Newcastle mid season.

They're down and hopeless, and Ranieri clearly didn't have a clue what to do or who to pick.

There are two standout figures when you look at the entire league table:

1. Our 15 goals conceded
2. Fulham's 63 goals conceded.

The last time they conceded less than 2 goals in a game was Dec 29th!

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed that Chris Hughton has left the club with immediate effect. Hughton’s assistant Paul Trollope and first-team coach Paul Nevin have also left.

Chairman Tony Bloom said, “Chris has done an excellent job over the past four and a half years. First stabilising our club, reaching the play-offs in his first full season, securing our first ever promotion to the Premier League, and retaining our status in two successive seasons.

“Undoubtedly, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make as chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion, but ultimately one I have made due to how we struggled in the second half of the season.

“Our run of 3 wins from 23 Premier League matches put our status at significant risk. It is with that in mind, and the performances during that period, that I now feel it’s the right time for a change.

“Chris will always be very fondly remembered by Albion staff and fans as one of our club’s finest and most-respected managers.

“I would like to wish Chris, Paul and Paul – who have all worked extremely hard throughout their time here – every success for the future, and thank them on behalf of everyone at the club.

“They will always be welcome at the Amex, and will be remembered here with great affection.”

The club have confirmed that the process to find Chris’s successor is underway, and that there will be no further comment at this stage.

IMO it's an absolute disgrace. He's keep them up, club prob get 100m plus. Yet another club thinking they are better than they are. Hope they get relegated next season.

He's done very well to keep them up but there's no denying their form has bombed significantly. In this instance I can understand him going but I think the will struggle next season regardless. Probably better for him he goes without a relegation on his CV.

Well he didn't really..they only stayed up due to Cardiff getting relegated...from Dec 26 Brighton only won 4 games....He's spent £77 million last season ....he's had a good go....You seem quite riled at Hughton's sacking

It's a shame they didn't sack him a week ago, a new manager bounce at the weekend could have been helpful

They only stayed up because cardiff got relgated makes no sense mate

They stayed up because they got more points than the other relegated sides. Not riled up at all, could not care less about Hughton ... just sick of these nothing clubs thinking they are better than they are.

At the end of the day he kept them up in the toughtest league in the world regardless of their form in the 2nd half of the season.

In fairness he has done a good job in getting them promoted and keeping them in the PL twice, the problem is that their form is so bad that if it continues into next season they would be certain of going down, the board needed to act, whether it was the right decision will depen on who they bring in and where they end up at the end of next season.
