Fran Tierney never signed for us in the end.

I think he failed a medical. Then he returned to Crewe before languishing in obscurity forever more.

Thanks for that

I'm just pulling out players names that popped up in the official LFC mag back in the mid 90's

John Welsh was pretty highly rated wasn't he? I think he played a couple of times in our CL run in 05. Didn't realise his career was over

How about that Welsh lad Lee Jones? He was around the fringes of the squad early on in Uncle Roy's reign.

Oh no...it isn't over mate. His career's gone downhill since though. Obviously out for ages and never got his place in the Hull side back. He went on loan to Chester recently but he's now back at Hull.

Apologies, misread your original post

Well good luck to the kid, I do remember there were a lot of good vibes about him as he was breaking through.

Nicky Tanner!

My God one of the worst defenders to ever pull on the shirt!

According to Wiki he retired through injury in 1994 and went on to coach non league teams.

A short career.

Stensgaard retired through injury really young (21/22) but putting up an ironing board

Then he returned out of the blue somewhere a few years later and spent a short time at Southampton

David Speedie is now working as an agent.

Did I hear somewhere that Stan Collymore is a dog handler, or something along those lines?

Was sadly struck down with Guillam-Barre (sp?) syndrome. Luckily he recovered but it was bad.

Went to Blackburn for a while and played for Stuttgart until the end of last season when he retired.

Good God, he was quality

From 2002:

http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/archi...p/t-15722.html

After being tantalisingly close to a life of luxury
and fame, Harrison is now back in modest surroundings.

He works in his hometown of Stockport as an HGV driver
for Robinson's brewery, but is philosophical about his
former career and what might have been.

'The best way to look at it now is that I don't I
think anything can ever be as bad as it has been,' he
says. 'But I don't feel bitter. I am getting on with
my life again now.'

Remember Alex Watson? Liar! He played for Liverpool in the Charity Shield in 1988. He was the younger brother of Dave Watson who moved to Everton and had some success. Alex Watson didn't do quite so well, though his career lasted long enough - from Wikipedia, he went to "Clevedon Town in November 2004, playing 23 times without scoring until the end of the season when he appears to have left."

Can anybody remember that we had a Brazilian left back on trial a few years ago when Ged was here. He played a few reserve games including one against Man Utd and was supposed to be the dogs, but we never signed him.

What was he called and where did he end up?

Sander Westerveld went to Real Sociedad and did well. Think he played for Pompey and the BS a few times a couple of years ago. Decent keeper.

Abel Xavier went to Galatasaray. Played for Boro for a couple of years and then joined Beckham in the US at LA. Properly shit player who's career is was far more illustrious than was deserved.

Michael Stensgaard is now working as one of the crocks of moders football - a player agent, having something like 15 danish "profiles" in his book... I think his agency is called Evolution or something of that sort...

Torben Piechnik however played for 5 seasons at a danish club called AGF winning a bronze medal before retirement. Since then he has been working in the transportation business as well as getting a physios degree of some sort... He is now attached as a physio for a danish 3rd div. team called HIK as well as being their defensive coach... You can check out his massage firm at http://www.piechnikmassage.dk/ and perhaps book an appointment (Fredo perhaps??? ). I might add the company motto is Wellness is quality of life.
