The best exposure you can get is on prime time tv on HBO (or similar) and topping the bill in Vegas or NY. Not on the HBO website Kurt. The average boxing punter - and man in the street knows boxers from off the telly - not off web sites. Nice try though Kurt.
Toppin' the bill in the MEN and Millenium Stadium doesn't quite have the aura and history of Madison Square Garden; or even the Mandalay Bay for that matter. A fighter of Calzaghe's ability and standing in the world deserves to fight at hallowed venues such as these yet unfortunately Joe doesn't have the inclination (or the will) sample nights such as those.
Ahh well his loss. He'll be remembered for it.

He's always giving it the big I am, and now he only want's to fight in Cardiff. If he's got so much ability and self-belief then he should get his welsh arris over to the USA and fight one of their top dogs in their own back yard. Maybe - just maybe - he'll then get the recognition that he keeps telling us he deserves.
I'm disappointed in him.

i don't think calzaghe as ever got the recognition he deserves in this country and maybe its a backlash from that lack of recognition that he as made is decisions, the man so badly wanted to fight Roy Jones jnr who i think kept dodging him the story was no more than a whimper in the press, if it had been Benn or eubank that wanted a similar fight the press and the British people would have started a crusade to make the fight happen, why the man is unfashionable i don't know maybe he fights without gimmicks and hype i don't know,i would personally put him up for sportsman of the year, maybe if he swims the channel after the fight he might get it.

I'm not sure you read the site properly, Les! The Calzaghe fight is topping the bill on HBO after dark Tomorrow night which is the most watched boxing show in the states!

http://www.hbo.com/boxing/
Here's the HBO preview for the fight.
HBO SPORTS CROSSES THE POND FOR LATE-NIGHT ACTION
Now in its tenth season, HBO's hit late-night boxing series heads overseas for HBO BOXING AFTER DARK: JOE CALZAGHE VS. SAKIO BIKA, to be seen SATURDAY, OCT. 14 at 11:00 PM (ET/PT) from the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England on HBO. The BOXING AFTER DARK team will be ringside for the event, which will be presented in Spanish language on HBO Latino.
HBO2 playdates: Oct. 15 (10:00 AM, 4:45 PM) and 17 (11:00 PM). Times are ET/PT.
In his first HBO appearance, undefeated super middleweight title holder Joe Calzaghe (41-0, 31 KOs) from Newbridge, Wales takes on Sakio Bika (20-1-2, 13 KOs) from Sydney, Australia in a scheduled 12-round bout. Calzaghe, who has been electrifying sold-out arenas in England, is coming off a dominating victory over previously undefeated champ Jeff Lacy and is seeking to further extend his domination in the division. Bika, whose previous title fight ended in a technical draw, due to a cut from an accidental head butt, looks to establish himself as the division champ. He's traveling half the globe to challenge Calzaghe on his home turf.
That's exposure in the U.S.A if you ask me!
As I said before, why go to the states if they'll come to him? They're obviously impressed with him because there's a few other fights they could ave shown on Saturday.

This whole thing about Vegas and NY being the Meccas of boxing is bullshit. The crowds in Vegas are no bigger than Hatton or Calzaghe bring in at home, and in Germany they get fucking ridiculous gates. Calzaghe-Kessler (assuming he wins) will obviously be better over here - they'll get a huge European crowd (where the big money is for the fighters) and HBO will still carry the fight.

You're right - I didn't read it.
Anyway - the way I feel at the moment after that pile of shite today - I'd give calzaghe a good fight meself !!!!
Question: If Calzaghe lost tonight and then retired with hand injuries - do you think he'd look back and think he'd acheived all he could have?

Joe Calzaghe
Didn't expect his fight to be first on the bill! Thought we'd have to wait till about 11pm for his fight.
C'mon Joe!!

Calzaghie is getting roughed up. By illegal means or not he really should not have allowed himself to get into such a fight with this fella.

He's been dragged in to a brawl which, as you say, he shouldn't be doing.

If Joe had a game plan at the start of this fight it weent out the window as soon as the bell went.
He's well ahead on points though. He's won 5 or 6 of the rounds so far.

He's also won one round 10-8 due to the points deduction on Bika. I hope that the fight isn't stopped due to the cut abouve Joe's eye.

Aye but if Joe had done his home work he'd have known that this fella was a bit tasty with his head. His last fight was stopped due to a nasty cut he inflicted on his opponent via a headbutt.

Yeah I know but Joe obviously never done his homework that well because he's been caught by the head...
Joe is also starting to look tired.

Undoubtedly he is a different class, but he seemed a bit overconfident and was almost caught out a few times.

That wasn't Joe's fault. Someone told him he was fighting Steve Biko, so he did the training for that shit.
Kessler reset the German proper. Him and Joe will be nice.
