Not so good - should have used the overlap.

Feels like we should have won this, but Italy are hanging in there.

Try time. Hastings, who improved once he settled.

Phew.

Exhausting second half.

Decent. Hard fought. Keeping Italy to nil shows our defence has improved a lot. Feels like Russell could make the difference attack wise though Hastings improved a lot.

Italy made some decent breaks but never really got within 5 metres. 21 turnovers for us was impressive.

Something to build on anyway.

A bit of a dull 2nd half for the neutral with Italy looking like the Italy of old. Not that it would have bothered you Buzzo

A nil in the points conceded column is always good and should help with building confidence for the challenges to come.

2nd half wasn't it? Going for the near side right hand corner.

Another few brain cells left out on the pitch for George North.

Despite being clueless/uninterested, I'm aware of that much and makes sense. First time I've seen Umaga, has a bit of Quade Cooper about him. Less spectacular, but stylistically.

Really good, they should have been putting this kind of thing together for years and years. Who knows what they'll serve up in the second half though.

Brilliant defence there at the end, huge moral victory for France, you could debate that they possibly could have had a second player binned, but really strong defence.

Crucial defensive set. On the edge a few times but they saw it out.

Felt crucial in terms of the result. The key with France is can they do it for 80 plus minutes. They are normally out on their feet at 60.

Also a couple of times if they weren’t so flamboyant and went through the phases they’d be well on top. They throw the ball away and end up at the other end of the pitch.

France look fucked already.

Wales with the most Wales performance ever move to within a point.

EDIT: As I say that an interception try for Ntamack changes things.

For once common sense prevails. Despite what the commentator says, there's no way in hell that's a deliberate 'slap down'. Often penalty tries are given in that situation, but it's way too harsh when things are happening at real time. Replays embellish these situations and people get on their high horse.

Forgot to hit post. This yellow was fully justified. Set up a huge ending. Massive scrum.

Yep yellow was justified.

And agree on the ‘penalty try’ created within predominantly Welsh commentary box. No chance for me.

Scrappy end to the game same as earlier on.

Tompkins looks a great player. Amazed England didn’t gather him up.

Great win for France 20 mins with 14 men. Decent game.

You're right he's definitely got something about him despite not playing that many minutes for Saracens over the past couple of years, although ironically he was to blame for the intercepted try and for blowing Wales best chance near the end.

I'm sure his time will come (but hopefully not against England )

I'm starting to wonder if all their results should be void because it's pretty unfair on a team who they decide to put out a team against as opposed to one they don't.

Obviously won't affect relegation but could affect qualification for the CC.

It’s a really grey area. There were games early in the season where they were fully loaded and thinking they had an decent chance of top 4.

I’d say voiding their games would work but then what do you do with their remaining fixtures?

They’ve ruined it for everyone.

Yeah hadn’t realised that was him at first.

He looks lovely. Not typical of a Welsh centre from recent years.

Not sure if anyone has seen these, but Rassie started a Twitter account and started posting some short clips of team talks and team building. https://twitter.com/RassieRugby if interested. The clip on entitlement is brilliant for me.

His English is hilarious.

That's because he's completely English (as you implied earlier) From London or thereabouts I believe

I think he should have held on a bit TBH unless he truly felt a Welsh affinity through Granny, but then the same could be said about the likes of Polledri (who I mentioned earlier), wasting his time playing for Italy

That should have been lively in my post. He had a spark about him.

Speaking of “completely English”, I see Mako Vunipola had to head ‘home for family reasons’ this weekend and will miss the game. Home... Yet he seems to have gone to Tonga?

I think they spent more time there than anywhere else.

Game on? Only 5 Sexton having a mare from the tee.

England must have been close to a yellow there.

Farrell junior losing his head a bit.

Got to be one of the worst atmospheres for a 6 nations match I can remember. You can hear people chatting FFS. England have just been to strong for Ireland.

We don’t have the physicality to match them even though they were missing the two Vunipolas. The score flattered us and we have too many players there on reputation - I’d bin Sexton, he is a fucking nightmare to listen to and when Carbury gets fit play him.

We are playing an antiquated brand of rugby and haven’t changed it up since the end of Schmidt’s reign. I expected a defeat so not that disappointed but I thought we’d put up more of a fight - we were bullied all over the pitch
