McLeish should walk after this.

What can he possibly say to excuse this?

This is great (the video). It's what I particularly like about Australians...

Quote:
Championship-bound referee Jarred Gillett wears a microphone during his final A-League match, offering a revealing insight into the on-pitch conversations between officials and players.

The 32-year-old Australian is emigrating to England to take up a research position at Liverpool John Moore's University but will continue as a referee as part of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited's Select Group 2, the body that provides officials for England's second tier.

I've often wondered why we haven't imported referees in the same we do with players.

Surely the PL can afford the pick the very best referees in world football?

99.99% sure the FA wouldn't impose a life ban if this was in the Premier League. Very easy to be tough when there is little chance of a protracted and expensive legal challenge

Lol England. Keane smoked like a kipper. He's not PL quality, nevermind international quality, even against Montenegro.

I know it's good to see an England manager picking younger players and not selecting based on reputation, but this starting line up is awful

England: Pickford, Walker, Maguire, Keane, Rose, Barkley, Rice, Alli, Sterling, Kane, Hudson-Odoi.

Kane maybe, if we changed tactics, but none of the others would get in our side.

Sterling looking askance at the ref after a player goes down cheaply under his challenge. Peak irony in a visage.

Fair enough, though heís had a lot less playing time vs someone like Jadon Sancho - 533 minutes vs 2275

533 mins in a season is <6 full games in total. Not much time even for an 18 year old

Gordon Taylor is set to announce he is standing down as chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association after 38 years in the role.

It follows a mutiny from PFA chairman Ben Purkiss and former players over governance issues and controversy around Taylor's £2.2m salary when compared with the amount of money given to player welfare services.

A statement is expected to be issued at the start of the PFA's annual general meeting which is taking place on Wednesday in Manchester.

The meeting should have taken place in November.

Taylor, 74, has been advised by senior colleagues that if he wants to avoid being challenged at the meeting, he needs to announce his departure.

It is understood that Taylor's preference is to oversee the appointment of a successor and stay in post until the completion of an independent governance review that was recently announced, but it is unclear whether that will be deemed acceptable.

Taylor has headed up the players union since 1981 after taking over from former secretary Cliff Lloyd.

He is credited with negotiating the PFA's biggest source of income: around £25m per year from the Premier League.

The former Bolton and Birmingham winger made over 500 appearances in an 18-year playing career.

I was quite impressed by Sean Morrison, Cardiff Citys centre back and captain, only really seen the highlights and analysis on motd but worth monitoring as a solid, non powder puff back up.
28 years old and 6ft 4" and although they were under the cosh v chelsea he was putting in great tackles, intelligently moving the attacker out wide and when needed throwing his bkdy on the line.
Bossing the rest of the players, pointing where to go, reminiscent of our colossus.

Has anyone seen much of him before?
