A 37 year old past it Striker to save their season. Why don't they ask Cantona back as well.

Would've said either Giggs retiring, Scholes back out of retirement, Rooney contract etc...............but RvN would be even more ridiculous.

And that's saying something.

Couldn't give a fuck. He's a good player but getting on a bit. Or it will be to add a few more quid to his transfer fee.

Yep, its great news that. An even bigger chunk of their wage bill going on a player that can't be bothered half the time.

I think he's got them over a barrel and taken full advantage of their issues to get this new contract.

Not fussed in the slightest he's staying there as whilst Moyes is in charge they'll struggle with his prehistoric tactics, I also believe we'll see players wanting to move on this summer with no CL football next season.

Rooney is their best player, trouble is they're not that good. No player is worth so much obviously. To command such massive wages I think a player has to be special - I don't think Rooney is a top top player, he had the potential to be years ago.

The captain clause is also just as abhorrent. Probably plays into why Vidic is leaving as well.

He reached his peak 5 or 6 years ago, massively overrated. That said, if he moved to Chelsea or City I think we'd possibly see a new Rooney, he's too safe where he is and really doesn't seem to bothered about anything. A new environment would do him the world of good.

If that's the case, surely Phil Jones deserves half a million a week.

A report today suggested the England international had signed a highly-lucrative record-breaking four-and-a-half-year deal worth in the region of 70 million to the player. The contract would see the England striker earn 300,000 a week to stay at Old Trafford until 2018.

It's fucking madness when you realise how much he might be paid over the length of the contract.

Apparently it's a 5.5 year deal, meaning that he'll be making 300k until he's 34.

That's insane. Would have let him go.

I guess they also have to give the impression that they can keep and attract the best players for their fans, other players and most importantly the sponsors who if they see the best players leaving might think twice before signing up to sponsorship deals.
