Liverpool V Leeds thread

Sunday at 4:30.

Just noticed we play AC Milan on Weds.

Reckon big Joel gets a rest for one of these.

what happened minamino...... i thought he might get a chance soon enough - particularly after Jurgen said he was in the best form since he joined.

Will divock get a chance?? Hardly.

Possibly Harvey up top with Oxlade / Keita in midfield.

TRENT------MATIP--------------------VIRGIL------ROBBO

-------------OXLADE------HENDO------THIAGO-----------

ELLIOT--------------------SALAH-------------------MANE

If Alisson and Fabinho get released by Fifa etc, then maybe Oxlade and Kelleher miss out

Gomez in for Matip perhaps? I wonder if Klopp will be tempted to rest VVD too?

Gomez and Konate sound almost as formidable!

Want Robbo to play (every game) but Iíd be tempted to rest him against Leeds. Heís just played two internationals for Scotland.

Our England B players should be relatively fresh.

Is Keita back in Liverpool?

Iíd stick with Virgil and Matip and rotate the others in for the Milan game on Wednesday, when they have Allison behind themÖ

Taking Allison and Fabinho out of the team, we donít want to change any more defensive players unless we have to, I reckonÖ

The only bonus is that Raphinha is a huge player for them and he is missing. IMO the midfield will be Hendo/Milner/Thiago & yeah Jota has to start.

I'd be very surprised if the Brazilians don't start. Too much of a shit storm if they are banned and FIFA have a justifiable reason to allow it. They already seem to have pissed off enough people with the World Cup proposal, so I imagine they'll not want to piss off more powerful Europeans if they can avoid it.

Not that I'm hoping for it, but I could see Ox getting minutes as part of the front three, Elliott will play some part as well.

CBF don't even need to back down. The authorities just need to advise that normal rules don't apply during Covid, much in the same way normal rules didn't apply during the Argentina game.

So many difficult decisions have had to be made in the last 18 months, this seems like a relatively easy one.

It all feels ridiculously punitive to stop the players from playing.
I'm not all over this story at all, but wasn't the Brazil game cancelled because of COVID anyway?

Almiron cleared to play for Newcastle. Not sure if Paraguay withdrew their request for a ban or it was overruled, but surely won't be ling before ours reaches the same conclusion.

From what I've read, UK on Brazil red list so anyone travelling from here needs to declare it and quarantine for 14 days when there.

What I assume is that players can get an exemption (otherwise why bother calling them up?), but the 4 Argentines didn't request one, instead lied that they hadn't come from a red country.

To me, they are the real c*nts in all this, deciding to ignore all advice and travel freely between red countries.

No one should be travelling to red list countries for any reason, especially a game of football. And just because they are some sort of elite athlete is no excuse.
For fifa to think football can trump governments and pandemics just shows how up their own arse they are!

Remember that these rules were relaxed for a while lastvseason so that clubs didn't have to release players if they would have to quarantine for more than 5(?) days on their return a few months ago, then FIFA ended that relaxation which is obviously what has led to this situation.

I could be wrong, but I think that the bans will stand because FIFA chose not to extend the relaxation when they had a chance to do so (this situation has been speculated about for a few months so it isn't a surprise) I donít see them relaxing the rules again retrospectively . I think that the only chance of them playing is if Brazil withdraw the ban request, and I suspect that will only happen if the players are able to obtain exemptions for the international breaks in October and November. Hopefully I am wrong and people at FIFA see sense but I'm not holding my breath on that...

I don't see him doing so unless the bans are overturned. We won't risk fielding an ineligible player

I reckon we are holding off as long as we can to make that decision.

Think if we see the clubs playing tomorrow start their South American players, then we will know that either a green light has been given for them to play or the clubs are going to show a united front and challenge any attempts to take actions against them.

If City and Everton players are cleared to play but ours aren't there needs to be legal action challenging these rules. The same rules can't be applied differently for the same incident.

Not correct

Brazil didn't report them because they released him for the Olympics when they didn't have to.
