I guess all our luck with injuries last year is gonna catch up with us this year.

I was looking at it as we got a relative break last year after the injury season from hell the year before!

Then we're going to get our 'usual' injuries going forwards, i.e. Ox, Matip, Gomez, Keita, etc.

This one really boils my piss. It was such a poor, mis-timed challenge by Konate and he ends up injuring himself in an nonsense friendly. Probably the most unnecessary injury of all time.

Robertson got injured in the equivalent friendly last pre-season, if I remember rightly. 2nd friendly in 2 days, and missed the start of the season. Have I remembered that right? Either way we should fuck it off in future. Pointless.

With regards to the friendlies - we use them to build endurance, other clubs do intense training. The risk is there with either tbh

It’s frustrating, but what can you do. Players need minutes in pre season to build up fitness, and the friendly was because we couldn’t do the usual changes the day before because it was the Community Shield. There’s no way of protecting players from impact injuries unfortunately.

Sort of hints that Konate will be out for longer than that four weeks.
Hope not as the drop off in quality from our four main CBs to Philips is massive.
Seems to be a lot of our back up players picking up injuries pre season this time around.
Tsimikas, Kelleher, Jones, Chamberlain, Keita and Konate (though whether Konate is a back up or starter is debatable).
Just puts us in a position where we could be a bit light if some of the starters who often pick up knocks do so once the season begins.

Pointless keeping Philips IMO. Gomez, Hendo, Fab, Spearing would all be picked ahead of him, so I just can't see him playing. I'd cash in.

hendo was a nightmare at CB in the season before last, keeping Phillips makes absolute sense.

I don't agree with playing any of those players there, but due to Philips lack of place, I'm sure Klopp sees them all as better options.
I think it would take 2 or 3 injuries and a change of style again before Philips would be considered.
