No chance will it be that much. There are still questions as to whether he can do it in Europe. He is very lightweight apparently. Messi is so strong on the ball. He doesnt seem it. Its hard to tell anyway, as I have only ever seen him doing tricks and scoring goals.

i will re-edit the thread on a daily basis ....dunno reckon it could well get close although Messi would easily command that but can't see him leaving

Wonderful talent no doubt. Excited to see what he can do in Europe. Should be worth no where near 100 million until he proves himself in Europe.

Love him and genuinely think he will be the next big thing in World football. A fantasy signing who makes me love this sport.

I was surprised when I watched him at Old Trafford during the Olympics just how deep he plays, he's a lot more of a freespirit positionally than Messi is.

Rumours that Barca have first dibs on him if he wants to come to Europe.
He is very well paid in Brazil I believe.
Saw him play in the Olympics and he oozed class.

Barca have already agreed to buy him, the deal was either last summer or this summer and they chose this summer. They've made a down-payment on him to prevent him going elsewhere.

He seems more of a Real type than Barca. He might cause problems.

I couldn't see him and Ronaldo playing together. If Pooftiano leaves then he'd be a damn good replacement for him and they'd certainly have the money - both the fee and the wages - free to pay for him.
But as I understand it - his deal to Barca is done.

He's more two footed than Messi too, not that that makes him better.
Imagine Barcelona with Messi inside right and Neymar inside left....
It'll be interesting to see how he adapts to having less time and space in a European league, but i'd guess Barcelona wouldn't take too much adapting to for a player like him.

Messi + Neymar could be absolutely incredible, but obviously it will all depend on how quickly Neymar adapts to the Barca system.
What a dream it would be to have him in our team alongside Luis. Wow, what a thought.

It's a depressing thought though because it reminds me something like that is light years from happening.
We're more likely to see Suarez and Neymar paired together in a Barca team in the near future in reality.

I thought he looked a bit lost when teams defended in an organised fashion. He's clearly a real talent but he needs to be challenged more IMO.

I thought the club and his agent denied this, or am I remembering wrong?

I couldn't find anything about it on Wiki either, so I'm also calling shenanigans. Might happen but I doubt there's anything official in place.

Yeah, when teams play with a higher defensive line, and there's less room, he looks a little less special. The thing is playing for Barca, many teams will defend deep against them anyway so there might not be much difference for him if he went there.
I remember when Santos played Barca in the World Championship last year, there was plenty of talk about an unofficial agreement being made between him and Barca then.
The Brazil national set up would surely want him to leave Santos and have at least a season in Europe before the 2014 World Cup.

Santos vice-president Odilio Rodrigues has confirmed that the club have already rejected an offer from Barcelona for Neymar.
Rodrigues has revealed that talks will continue with Barca, but he also admitted that they are expecting to hold discussions with Real Madrid, too.
"There is no agreement for Neymar, there are talks, I met [Barcelona's president Sandro] Rosell and [Barcelona's sporting director] Raul Sanllehi last week," he told Radio A Xarxa.
"We had a very frank conversation. Talks need to continue because the offer was not good enough."
He confirmed that Santos are expecting Real to lodge a bid shortly, adding: "We know Real Madrid will make an offer too."
Rodrigues also insisted that the player will make the final choice, adding: "Neymar will choose the team he wants, it's Neymar's opinion that is important."

Barcelona have paid the Spanish authorities £11.1million following allegations of tax evasion in the transfer of Neymar.
The High Court judge Pablo Ruiz this week insisted that the Catalan club should repay the amount they evaded during the Brazilian striker's transfer to Spain from Santos last summer.

Footballers at the top level are toxic. How can a man in his early 20s be worth in excess of $50m from kicking a ball about and yet feel like they need to avoid paying tax. It's vile if true

Great goal.
He looks about a decade older now than he did at the World Cup.
