What I love is that he gets the size and history of the club and you can clearly see he is delighted to be with us

Bump! (his thread was all the way down on page 5 )

So with Matip playing in the league cup last night does that mean Konate has suddenly taken his place?

I don't think so, Matip had done nothing wrong to warrant being dropped, i think it was just resting him at the weekend, then using last night as a way of keeping fitness levels up (hence only the 45 mins).

We shipped 2 against Citeh, 3 against Brentford and another 2 against Atletico

It was time for a change at the back.

Having a 2nd fast CB won’t hurt but those were down to midfield issues more than the back imo.

Hopefully we’re getting back to having some options there, feels like we’ve been having to play whichever 3 are fit for the last bunch of games.

I loved his performance against ManUre but his positioning and decisions have not been as good since. Caught in no man's land at a key moment last night.

Got a lot to learn and needs to learn it fast.

he's still young for a CB and new coming in etc etc, but his temperament/reading of the game seems way off for a CB at the moment.

He seems to have enough about him to recover situations though.

“Way off” is a bit harsh. Made a couple of mistakes but was excellent apart from that. Brought the ball out of defence really well. It’s just decision making in our system that he needs to learn and this will come with games. I have absolutely no doubt he will come good.

A big physical unit with great potential. His positional sense needs to be better.....but this will come with time. A couple of times he was dragged unnecessary out to the sideline. At set pieces Matip was constantly telling to move further down the defending line to mark players

Just saw this on FB. High praise indeed

Zlatan Ibrahimovic "I asked to exchange shirts with Liverpool defender Konate, he won all the fights with me on the ground and in the air, I told him that he will be a great defender in the future and that he remembers my words well."

He dominated Ibra physically and I thought he played very well but Ibrahimovic's movement or should I say lack of movement was farcical. We cruised that game with a second string team, away from home and had already qualified. That was a must win, huge game with massive financial implications for them, playing at home and they were an embarrassment.... they are also currently top of Serie A. Bit of an indictment on the league to be honest.

Superb again tonight. He really is a beast. Loved it when he took out three of their players at that corner that we eventually scored from. I’d give him the assist for that

Brilliant against Newcastle.... give him more time and some game time with Virgil and surely Konate will fancy his chances of being first choice CB for LFC at the age of 22 / 23. That is some going.

Will be interesting to see how Gomez progresses in the next few months as well. If he does well, then with VVD, Mapit, Gomez and Konate, that is 4 brilliant options for CB.

Jurgen could have a selection conundrum at this seasons CL final!!!

City mate of mine in the group chat last night saying "who's that big lad at the back?". I told him. He replied "looks very limited. Reminds me of Mangala. Shite"

I agree. Still young though. I prefer Nat, but his pace works better in Klopps high line.

Deserves a thread bump. What a prospect this lad is. Still a touch rough around the edges but has absolutely everything to be a world class CB. I'd keep him in for Leeds tbh.

Yeah he looks amazing that was his best performance for us for sure. Joel has that mad pass in him every game.

Konate and Virg had to be one of the most physically impressive CB pairings.
