They're basically gambling with long term revenue streams to get themselves back in order in the short term.
Risky to say the least.

Good question! Feels like they've had Peter Risdale in consulting for them.

If it as a smaller club they’d have been declared bankrupt & deducted points & relegated. I’m waiting for the day it happens to them now.

And then they go and spend the savings on other players! Talk about taking the piss
Really starting to dislike them now, almost on a Real Madrid scale. Between Barca, Real and Atletico, those are three unlikable clubs in La Liga

Selling off their assets on top of the future TV rights should have alarm bells ringing IMO. Relegation to the 2nd division would be comical

They are a financial shitshow. Some of the stuff they are doing now will ruin them in a few years.
One thing I do wonder is why the oil oligarchs have never been in for Barca/Real. I think it must be this, just too much of a mess to even contemplate taking over.

The resistance from the fans would be huge. Too much of an initial outlay, nothing like the sense of 'achievement' from taking a nothing club like City/Newcastle up the table. Do that and they're seen as saviours and defended to the hilt, evidenced on social media as we speak... sportswashing completed.

A large part is ego/image, if you take over one of the biggest clubs in the world and win them a few more titles, so what? People will say they would probably have won those without you. If you take over a no mark club and give them success the like of which they haven't seen before, the fans love you, and you can point at it as your success.

I used to love the Barca ethos. One of the last teams to sell the shirt, and even then it was to UNICEF. Look at them now. Leveraged beyond any recognisable sane level.

UNICEF was a cynical move to allow them to pave the way for paid shirt sponsorship.

Nah, they could have just gone straight in with a big sponsor and nobody would have batted an eyelid. The ethos of the club has changed over the last 15 years.
I have mentioned before but Hearts front of shirt sponsor is MND Scotland, with the actual sponsor DELL giving up the prime real estate on the short for a small bottom of short on the back location. I would love to see this replicated.

Is that because they wrote off the deferred wages they owe to everyone they are trying to sell?

The player did not sign a deal with individuals, he signed it with the club so would love to see this one play out through the courts.
Nothing more than a scumbag of a club now. Would love to see them collapse totally and be wound up. No doubt before that could happen they would get into bed to a greater degree with some oil country.
