Horrible pre-season friendly. It’s really one for game-time/experience rather than any entertainment. Feel for the full backs but they were poor in first half.

Picked this up in second half.
Konate picked up a worrying knee injury and had to be replaced.

Had expected Jones and Keita to be involved.
When it was arranged, they'd have expected to have the Ox and Kostas too. And maybe Ali or Kelleher.

To give players minutes. Yesterday we had to play a game under official conditions, so couldn’t do the usual raft of subs to get everyone 30/45 mins. Just a result of having a condensed pre-season.

At least Gomez is looking a bit quicker than last season. Hopefully nothing is wrong with Konate.

I really didn't like the way Konate's knee hyper extended. Hopefully nothing serious but it's a concern.

Apparently the physio winced slightly when checking his knee.

I get that, but feel for those fans who forked out for the game and didn’t get what they would have been wanting to see. Unless I missed it, none of the pre match sales pitch informed that this would not involve any of the established players or superstars.
I’ll bet there are loads of disappointed kids tonight.

Everyone knew the Community Shield was the day before when this game was announced. Of the course the 1st team would be playing in that game. Did people expect the same players would play 2 days in a row? This game was clearly going to be for the squad players.

I think it was a bit shite from the club to be honest. It was such a bad lineup and then only 5 subs on the bench just to rub it in
I think at the very minimum you'd be hoping to see a couple of our star players come off the bench.
I realise any pre-season game at Anfield is better than none at all, but last night was bordering on refund-worthy. It was dire.

“Diogo, Oxlade, Naby, Curtis, and now on matchday Naby’s ill and Curtis felt a little bit and we couldn’t take any risk and all of a sudden the team is really young and you play a really strong Strasbourg side.”
The Reds’ injury list does not make for great reading with Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate joining Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calvin Ramsay, Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Kaide Gordon.

Makes sense in the light of our injury list. A fair few of these guys would have played.
