Shit. Either way I'm glad he's not off to play for Spain but it does leave me concerned the injury is more troublesome than we thought.

Hmm it looks like he's in the background training here if you look carefully so maybe it's just precautionary:
That is him in the background with the red boots on right?

While that's probably the sensible approach and I'd maybe do the same, it's still a bit hard to stomach if he makes his PL return at the same time as that f*cker Richarlson.

I'm going to go out on a limb having watched 'inside training' in its entirity and predict that Jota starts and Bobby remains on the bench.

I've predicted that Bobby will start as he's Klopp's go to man for big games, but I guess Jota has the advantage of being harder to prepare against for Guardiola. Even though he might watch videos and study his style, it will still be hard to prepare as Jota could start in any of teh forward 3 positions and frequently change throughout the game. With Firmino, he's knows exactly what he's up against.
I love Bobby and would find it very hard to drop him, but equally it's hard not to get excited by seeing the same front 3 as Atalanta.

I thinks it’s impossible to not play Jota just now.
The extended clip they showed didn’t feature any of the starting lineup, but did feature Bobby with Shaq, Milner, Williams etc.

Pep’s known what to expect from Firmino since he’s been here, it’s rarely ever helped him. Bobby is always great at disrupting them in these games, I don’t think they’ve ever really found an answer to him. Apart from when we’ve been down to 10 men, or still drunk from celebrating the title

Ha, if we don't win, one set of armchair supporters will have a field day.
Get the 3 points and nobody will care if it's Origi that starts up front.

If it were up to me, I'd go for this:
----jota-----------Mane-----------Salah
-------Gini------Hendo----Milner
----Robbo--Gomez--Matip----TAA
------------------Alisson---------
Subs:
Adrian,
Phillips,
Firmino,
Shaqiri,
Tsimikas,
Keita,
Jones

I think I would agree. Not sure if Milner will start though. Huge call in midfield.
If it was Curtis Jones, then that would be huge backing by Jurgen. Perhaps Keita instead ......but not sure we would start with Keita and Matip both back on their first starts after injury in this game.
To have Shaqiri and one of our front 4 (Bobby or Jota) on the bench is great. Options if we need them.
A win here - without Virgil, Fabinho and Thiago - arguably our 3 best outfield players (and if not "best" then perhaps most important) would be fuckin huge for us.

Gini, Hendo and Milner is a nightmare midfield IMO. We need our most dynamic players and Milner isn’t that anymore - he can give 20 mins at the for Naby hopefully

I think my midfield would be Gini - Hendo - Keita.

No way Milner starts. Naby or on Tueday's performance Jones.

pretty crazy how we've got 700 midfielders and are struggling to fill that third shirt for Sunday.

I wouldn't say it's a nightmare at all, I'm pretty sure that midfield has beaten city before and yes they are all a couple of years older and city have changed since then but they are all exceptionally fit players.
Depends what you mean about dynamic but Ox aside, klopp midfielders have never been about pace in the centre or even agility really, they have always been about controlling the game, pressing ins one situations and being back with discipline in others. They are generally about getting onto he ball and feeding one of the forwards or fullbacks so that they can shine.
Curtis has had a lot of minutes recently and keita is only back from injury.
Milner has been mr dependable since he came to LFC. I think his experience would benefit the team against city.

Dynamic means quick, able to cover the ground at pace and be good in transition. Milner is a great guy to have in the squad but his age has been really showing and while he can cover a lot of distance he looks slow which is understandable given his age. If we are ahead and want to see the game out then bring him on but he is not starter quality for me anyone unless we are stuck or rotating and certainly not vs City.
The Milner, Hendo, Gini midfield seemed to be rolled out by Klopp for European away games which we constantly lost. This would be a big leap to start Curtis because he has shown some up and down form in recent games. He was however excellent against Atalanta.
I’d start Naby who is dynamic - he was part of excellent wins vs Ars and Chelsea. Given him 60 mins and then see the game state before seeing who we bring on.

But none of Klopps CMs bar ox are pacey. naby is incredibly slow....I also wouldn't call curtis jones quick.
They are agile players but they aren't fast. My only concern is I don't think Jones or Keita are strong enough defensively for City.
I thought Keitas form was pretty average before his injury, he seemed a passenger in many games this season.

We both want a positive result this weekend - I don’t care who we achieve it with but would prefer not to see Milner start. If he does he’ll get my full support
I’m going to agree to disagree - I suspect Naby will start

I'd start Jota but wouldn't complain if Firmino started. Either way, we win, draw and lose as a team. Understand where you are coming from, but really hope there isn't a blame game if we fail to beat City. Best outcome, Jota has a great game and Firmino nets the winner.

Shaqiri has looked good this season. Just not sure if he has the positional discipline/awareness to start in midfield against City. I'd go Keita.

This is it!
We are top of the league and if we intend to stay there, we need to beat a fairly flat Manchester City. They are still a great side but on the back of our thrashing of Atalanta, we have a fully firing front three and a maybe some key players back for selection such as Thiago and Matip.
I can't help but be overconfident about this one but we certainly won't underestimate them.

I think that's probably why he hasn't played that much under Klopp when he has been fit. Lovely footballer, capable of things that most of our midfielders cannot do but the graft and the tactical side of it probably isn't his forte.
