The ball contact is much faster than the players can run.
According to a quick google search:
the fastest ball contact was recorded at 130mph, the fastest speed for a footballer was 23mph

Makes sense, but then when you’re deciding between one frame and the next for the position of the player, at 23mph or 10pms, there’s up to a 20cm difference between one frame and the next. I wonder if the ‘AI’ does some calculations to work out the ‘intro-frame’ position based on the more precise measure of the ball kick.

Disadvantage for the dressing room big guns
I'm just waiting for the day his knob is offside and it gets projected up on the big screen

Origi's departure makes sense now.

I hoping the cameras are synced so frame x on one is the same as x on the other. All the AI should do is assess the body points on the relevant attackers and defenders and makes the decision.
Hope it works as VAR has been the victim of false advertising and misuse. It is a farce that they are making millimetre decisions when the margin of error is centimetres or more.

Given his position he should know better and should really be suspended and/or sacked by Sky for continuing the hooligan myth.

It's a proper token apology as well. He could have used the moment to push the cause, but he did not. That is telling.
