Salary limit? Is that new? Messi probably takes up 50% of it.

They were such a well run club - ridiculous academy that produced ready map players on tap and generated cash from selling the surplus. They would then add genuine world class talent in top.

The academy still is producing but they are a shit show on and off the pitch. The financial situation is even worse when you consider they got 200m CASH for selling Neymar. Dembele, Griezemann, Phil have cost them circa 400m.......

Does he not take up 0% of it.......considering he's a free agent ?

Without reading up on it, I assume all that Barca transfer doom and gloom takes into account Messi on a new deal

They've only themselves to blame. More than any club they have consistently pushed the market to new heights of inflation and it was always going to come back and bite them.

At fees of 100mil plus, no player is worth it in my opinion. The risk is simply too high for any individual in a team sport that requires a strong squad of 15-22 players.

Even if the player has the required quality he was bought for, there's always the chance he picks up niggling injuries or career debilitating injuries I e dembele.

The top end of the transfer market is so distorted, more than ever from the average professional club that then these players are impossible to shift without huge losses.

And that's not even considering the risk that time and time again great players move clubs and utterly fail to reproduce that form for no simple reason.

If I was a sporting director, I'd take the strategy of buying decent talent at the middle end of the market mostly, with the odd marquee signing but not every year as it spreads the risk.

And their amazing academy was essentially the product of an international child trafficking syndicate.

They got done by UEFA for repeated and flagrant breaches of Article 19 and were given a transfer ban in 2014. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30633737. And because they’re cunts, they pretended is was an admin thing.

In reality they were finding kids, mainly in South America, who they weren’t allowed to bring to Spain for the purposes of football, then finding employment (real or otherwise) for parents in Spain, assisting with visas etc, so that the families could move for ‘non football related reasons’, then coincidentally signing the kids to the academy.

Judas Phil starting for Barca tonight, came on as a sub the other night. Can’t be long until they have to pay us more ’s?

They are 0-1 down to Granada in the Camp Nou.

We sold our debt to a 3rd party on what Barca owed us, So we are paid in full. Barca still haven't paid the debt off though!

I think their current squad would be mid-table in the Premier League. So average.

Yeah they had Fati, Pedri and Dembele and a couple of others injured but even so they have such an average squad now when you look through it. You could argue there are 6/7 better squads in the Premier League currently.

Real also look so poor. La Liga is fucked.

I still can't believe they have Luuk de Jong leading the line. Gladbach and Newcastle flop who hasn't hit double figures in the league out of the Netherlands. Koeman may have had a good spell at Southampton but he's a proper shit coach. If he wasn't a great player no one would have given him a job.

Braithwaite and Luuk De Jong, honestly, there must be better alternatives just from their youth squad?

I had that Bayern game on last week. I was wondering why Koeman was playing Frenkie de Jong up front. I wasn't really paying attention so i just assumed that it was a result of them thin with injuries.

It was only when Chris Sutton said they were something or other because they're playing a carthorse up front. I thought that was a bit harsh on a gifted youngster playing out of position. It was only when i paid attention that i realised they signed a Newcastle reject.

I did think Frenkie had put a bit of weight on tbf.

Koeman said it'd be a few years before they are competing financially again... i think it'll be much longer than that!

From the bbc gossip...
Newcastle United's new Saudi owners plan to look to Germany in an attempt to mirror the success of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel in England. Chelsea's Germany striker Timo Werner, 25, is a top target, along with Bayern Munich and Germany centre-back Niklas Sule, 26, Barcelona's Brazilian midfield flop Philippe Coutinho, 29. (Bild - in German)
