Pretty much universal from pundits panel (about 6 of them) that Pickford should be off and goal should have stood.

And it seems Coote was also the VAR at Old Trafford last season.

That seals it then. Corrupt cunt.

Wasn't there a auto filter on the forum where a particular word changed to "I'm a little teapot"?

Can we have something similar for David Coote?

That space in behind him is being targeted this season. Cross is easy from then and from that point itís almost undefendable given the quality of the header.

Well a new one has been added or this just gave away what the word was because it definitely said something else in real time view!

I had to take a couple of hours away from here in an attempt to calm down after the final whistle. I haven't seen any of the pundits comments, manager's response or read any of the comments on here or anywhere else since the game finished. A few thoughts:

- Pickford's challenge was a red card as clear as you like, if the rules say that VVD being offside overrules anything that comes after someone seriously needs to look at that rule, because clearly it's wrong
- I'd need to see this again but I'm not convinced that VVD was offside, the lines I saw in the match seemed to be drawn to a player near him where there looks to be someone's heal in the middle of the goal playing him on, but as I say I need to see that again.
- Henderson's goal, not offside, I don't understand how that is given offside
- Richarlison is a cunt - I've said it before but that was a cunt's challenge on Thiago
- Referee was shocking aside from all of the above there were a number of other things that he got wrong throughout the match.
- Our performance wasn't great it was much better than last time out, just really disappointed not to have got the 3 points.
- Adrian was ok, for me he looked a little nervous which is understandable I was probably a bit harsh on him in the match but am glad he came through it ok. Still want Alisson back ASAP.
- The overriding feeling at the moment is that we have been robbed, still not happy about it, but have calmed down a little.

This robbery could cost us the title. VAR is shit in every aspect and should be binned. Otherwise I hope the game dies.

Thiago finished the game and big Virg was able to walk off

I'm clinging to the hope that as a result neither sustained serious injuries.

Not entirely hopeful as both challenges were horrific.

Everton have been doing that for years. Kicking us all over the pitch and deliberately trying to injury players.

If we do loose Virg of Thiago as a result of those challenges I hope we even the score at Anfield in the new year.

It is Kenneth you're right but still, fucking robbed big time by wank officiating. Not the first time sadly and I'm sure many other teams will be affected by the same stupid decisions in the future.

Offside decisions use cameras that operate at 50 frames per second. Assuming they can pinpoint the exact frame at which the ball is struck there is a 5.3cm margin of error. 1 frame either side and you have a 16cm margin of error.

Now what if the players are running?
I posted something about this last season (presumably in the VAR thread), after one of the really tight offside decisions. Saying that there was no way that the resolution they were attempting to achieve was possible.

There are some cameras that are faster than 50 fps (120 fps IIRC) but it is unclear which cameras are used for which decisions. But even assuming that the best (fastest) cameras are used, you can draw the lines for the forward and the defender perfectly, an error of one frame corresponds to inches rather than mm.

Edit here's a link to the post I did last season

The loss of two points is annoying but the injuries to key players are of greater concern.

Not sure which Everton would be more happy about: not losing the derby or putting a couple of our players out for a while.

City and Chelsea our likely challengers. Makes our draw today even better. Sheffield Utd next. Hopefully with Thiago and Alison, if not VvD.

Come on Arsenal, give us a result tonight.

I thought we actually played really well- we were sloppy for both goals conceded and one or two sloppy moments going forward, but in general we bossed the game..

Everton away is always gonna be one of the toughest games of the season... also we have traditionally been rusty after international breaks.. also when you consider that Adrian was in goal, and then vvd had to go off after 6 minutes, and Gomez had to come on, after being dropped.... all things considered a point was a decent result- once vvd went off, I would have taken a point.

Very frustrating though, that we were robbed of the 3 points..

Don't think Pickford's was on purpose, just a keeper rushing out and spreading himself, but happening to clatter into Virg's planted foot. The Richarlison one tho, that was different.

It's not VAR that's the problem though. The error rate overall is down after it's implementation. It's the writing of the law and the subjective element that always exists when humans make the decisions.

I think the offside rule should be updated to be 'only offside from the hip down'

It's natural to start a sprint with your top half slightly forward and I think it's a fair race with defenders if your legs are in line.

Many of the rules are part of the mess. But in case of offsides, the Video Ref isnít supposed to go forensically looking for reasons to overturn the decision.

If VAR (the person, not the tech/equipment) can rule out a clearly onside goal like today, then itís definitely a problem.
