If its a performance enhancer then he's an absolute idiot. He was on course for a life setting pay day. Maybe he's got a bit of dough or otherwise he's set for a career standing on the door of some shit hole.

The silly cunt has been popped for steroids. Fuck him and fuck Hearn. They knew the A sample had been flagged prior to the fight but fighter, promoter and BBoBC all allowed the fight to go ahead on Saturday. Wankers.

With all the excitement of the cricket, I almost forgot about this. Did anyone catch the Kovalev - Yarde bout? Unbelievable and the stoppage was excellent. They were both exhausted and battered. Ward definitely broke Kovalev a bit in that second fight, he's not the same anymore, he had that aura of invincibility and believed it, that's gone now. The fact he came through those sticky middle rounds and scored the late KO is credit to him.
Yarde was taken into deeper trenches than he would have experienced before. He hasn't even had 20 fights yet and will definitely become a good world champ in the future. He has everything you'd want to be a top fighter.
Rumour has it that Canelo is next, would love to see Krusher knock him out.

Absolute stupidity. He was so dominant, there's no way that was accidental, could have been disqualified on a different day. Reminded me a bit of the Hopkins and Pascale a few years back in terms of the decision being overturned.
Fury is boxing quite well here, expected Povetkin to walk through him after 6. Povetkin is looking decent, but needs to land some combos back to back. Difficult on Hughie with his style and size disparity.

Fury did well to stay on his feet the entire fight despite not being comprehensively beaten up. He was caught by some huge right hands and hooks. Close fight, feel Povetkin won because this is professional boxing and he landed the heavier, eye catching work. Fury did well to disrupt, but he obviously didn't do it that effectively when you examine the state of his face.
Think the right man won, but surprised the score was so wide. Would like to see Povetkin fight the winner of the Parker - Chisora bout or Whyte. Think he could beat any of them on the right day. He's a small man with heavy hands, quite underrated.

Given that they seem to be clamping down on low blows Campbell's got between zero and fuck all chance in this fight.
Loma is a special, special talent.

Campbell avoiding getting knocked out by picking up Loma's legs.
Campbell is a good fighter, but the Sky team really need to relax. I think Linares is quite a bit better than him, then there are a pool of other lightweights at a similar level, including Campbell.
Good fight though, enjoyed it. Lomachenko always responded well when caught, hit him almost at will at times.

It's a good decision for Benn. Hes super fit. Never been hit hard. He'll be world champ in 2 years. Either that or dead by Christmas.

Well on the subject, read this the other day about ex-crack addict and world champ Oliver McCall. Still fighting and calling out Ruiz

I guess when they are dead we will have new research available as to the results of impact on the ageing brain. Maybe they are doing it for science?

Not ageing specifically, but neurohealth and boxing is something I've read about quite extensively, particularly when I used to box.
Thought this study was pretty interesting, particularly for young kids.
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand...n-child-boxing
Quote:
AIMC has conducted studies on 300 child boxers aged under 15 with two years to more than five years of experience, as well as 200 children who do not box, Dr Jiraporn said.
The findings show that child boxers not only sustain brain injuries, they also have a lower IQ, about 10 points lower than average levels. Moreover, the IQ level also correlates with the duration of their training.
|
Lowering an IQ by 10 is quite significant, would like to see something on people who only started combat sports later in life, like Sergio Martinez who only laced up the gloves in his 20s. Surely they should have significantly lower chance of ill-effects than other who started full contact as young children.

Missed the fight, but heard it was a cracker. Looking forward to watching the replay. Apparently Danny Garcia is next for Spence, really want to see him fight Crawford. That would probably be the best fight that boxing has to offer.

Caught the card last night, both the Benavidez - Dirrell and Spence - Porter bouts were excellent. The Dirrell brothers are really good, slick operators but Benavidez is huge for the weight. Would like to see him fight Canelo after he's got a bit more experience. That would be one hell of a Cinco de Mayo clash.
Respect to Porter for his fitness and relentlessness. He's not the most gifted fighter and he has weird technique but he's an unbelievable athlete. His unorthodox nature must make him nightmare to get into the ring with. He doesn't have huge power, but managed to stun Spence a few times. Really good fight and think Spence deserved to win, but some of those rounds were impossible to score. Surprised Porter doesn't get caught with more shots like the hook he got dropped with, considering how he bends over infront of opponents.
Maybe we've moved on from the golden age of welterweights from 1990-2015 but the weight division is in good hands with a lot of quality fighters.

Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko was a good fight. Golovkin is definitely getting over the hill. Still an excellent fighter, but he isn't what he used to be. He can't do everything he used to in order to land his massive shots. Think some of his aura is gone and other guys are more confident they can withstand his punches too. Imagine Canelo wouldn't be too concerned about a third bout, I still think that Golovkin would win [again, for a third time].
Been some good bouts recently, makes me happy after all of the freakshows and awful cards we were seeing a few years back.
Usyk makes his heavyweight debut next week.
