I was thinking about them this morning. Imagine winning the domestic treble and no one talks about it or gives a fuck yet your rivals win the European cup and the media are all over it constantly and fawning over the whole club.

Our owner is interviewed in the street, all relaxed. Theirs are choppered in and out with no interaction that isn't highly scripted and pre-planned

Its the big team wins the big prize vs small team trying to buy a heritage syndrome. Ciy cant buy what we have nor will they ever be able to - look at the previous incarnation of that - Chelsea - they are slowly reverting back to what they were pre-Abramovich and the same will happen to City once the Arabs get bored.

I dont think the Arabs will get bored its when they hit obstacles to their project that will make them switch off

Abramovich has had the problem og not being allowed to stay in the country and that has meant him re-evaluating his investment even further (he was already trying to adhere to FFP)

I think if the FFP issue comes down against City we might see them back off

It's funny if he's meant to be Kompany's replacement, although he could turn out alright

Apart from the fact they're going to continue their ridiculous spending spree trying to outbid everyone

I don’t get the Love for Maguire at all. He’s solid enough in a Leicester or Everton level... but that’s big money.

Is he good enough on the ball for City?

It’s the same a few years ago when they were going to go all in for Jonny Evans. He’s just a journeyman CB.

On the down low, City are fairly shit at transfers these days. All the players they really rely on: Silva, Aguero, the Greedy Bastard, KDB, Fernandinho, were signed pre-Guardiola and a few of them are knocking on now and/or starting to suffer injuries.

Bernardo Silva?

I'm not sure i agree. Mahrez is also a good player but getting into that team isn't a cakewalk.

Laporte, Sane, Jesus, Ederson.

4 of the back 5 are Pep signings, as are Silva and one of Sane or Jesus. That's 6 of the starting 11.

Yeah but the game changers, who are the ones I mentioned, pre-date Guardiola. I take your point he has signed some good full-backs.

Bernardo Silva is the exception. Top, top player. But Sane is on his way out and Gabriel is nowhere near Aguero’s level.

In his first year, Jesus was phenomenal. 7 goals and 4 assists in 8 starts. He looked like signing of the century at that stage.

Sane is a great player, although you have to wonder why he fell out of favour with the national team and then at City last year. On paper, he would be immense for us.

Stones, Bravo and Danilo are probably the worst of their recent transfers IMO, but either way, the players Pep has signed has elevated Aguero, KDB etc. from a very good PL team to the greatest team English football has seen (statistically), so it's had to argue that their transfer policy is shit.

Edit: Plus they tried to sign big Virg which would have been better than all their signings put together.
