I'm going to find it very depressing to watch a game with Rafa managing someone else

Also on Sky ain't it?

I will also find it depressing, but I'm also looking forward to see how he gets them playing.

Yeah I know what you mean. In fact with all the shit at our club I'm tempted to do a Fredo and just support Rafa from now on instead

I can't watch this game. It's just way too weird watching Inter play our 4-2-3-1, and defending exactly like we did.

Aguero

And again, Chelsea Dagger gets played over the PA

Love the goalscorer announcement in the ground...

(in sensible english voice and accent): the goalscorer, Sergio Aguero

(in loud and shouting Spanish): Gol gol gol gol gol.....Kun Kun Kun Kun Kun AGUERO!!!!

I somehow doubt Mourinho will be taking the credit for this result

Wonder what Nando's thinking...

He left Atletico to come and win things with us. We've won nothing, Atletico have won the Europa Cup and the Supercup.

Have to say, Inter look a shadow of the team that played under Mourinho. Out classed by Atletico. Could just be down to match fitness issues.

Still think Rafa was bonkers to take the Inter job. Anyone who takes over a team who have just had the most successfull season in Italian football history is going to struggle.

The league title is a minimum requirement.

That game means so little, the Mancs lost to Zenit and there's been lots of other odd results. Rafa is up against it though, in more ways than one. I hope it works for him but I don't think he can win.

Ofcourse he can't win. How can he possibly match what Mourinho achieved there? Mourinho got them to massively over-achieve last season and Rafa is an idiot for taking over. No matter what he wins it won't be enough. It won't be long before Jose sticks the knife in for tonights defeat. Beaten by Athletico yet again

If he wins a domestic double and they get to the semis of the CL (minimum)...that'd represent a great season IMO. No-one wins consecutive trebles, you'd have to be demented to demand that as a minimum requirement.

But yeah no doubt he'll be discredited whatever he does.

Anyone see that Nick Collins cunt interviewing Rafa after the match asking him about 3 times on the bounce about his interest in Dirk Kuyt?

Did the stupid twat not know about Kuyt last night saying he's staying at Liverpool??

Rafa was having none of it.

Didn't see it, I couldn't bear it any longer after the commentator said "The Mourinho era is well and truly over. Inter - fallible. Benitez - beatable."

That's the point though, even a 'successful' season for Rafa over there, will not match what they had before and whatever he does, he will always have failed to achieve what they did before he arrived.

FFS the press are a joke! They're not even attempting to hide their contempt for the man. Trying to ridicule him after one defeat in a tinpot kickabout

Not that i disagree about the press and their hate for Benitez - but genuinely, why the fuck do they have such a problem with him?

There are tonnes of arsehole managers out there, why are they so cunty with Rafa?

Well he doesn't give them anything does he...never lets his guard drop, doesn't play their game. But that should really only bother the relative handful of journos who are directly affected. Fucking every cunt wants to stick their boot into Rafa and like you I don't get it. I think maybe some of them just can't understand his methods...and instead of trying to understand, they stick the boot in instead. Easier that, innit.

Yeah but Ferguson hardly gives them what they want, does he? He fucking bans half of them from MUFC press conferences and suchlike. But none of them stick the boot in.

Why rafa?

Well they're scared stiff of Ferguson aren't they....and again fuck knows why. The Rafa thing I'll never understand. He's always struck me as such a nice fella...in fact some journos/media types have said what a nice bloke he is when you 'get up close', and they'd sound surprised about it. Didn't that cunt Shreeves once say something similar?

Dont recall Shreeves saying it, but it's obvious that Rafa's a top fella. Always dignified, polite and has a good sense of humour too. I'd suggest Rafa the manager, is perhaps a little harder and strictly professional, while Rafa the man is just a great bloke.

Yep, I'd add extremely generous and kind too, what with all those donations.

And the pub episode in Germany was just legendary

To be honest, how much changing does a treble winning side need?

Rafa used to ridicule the press, hence the inevitable.

The media can make or break you.

Anyway, why Rafa walked straight into a job after the obvious trauma he suffered at LFC over the last twelve months is beyond me.

He really needed at least a year out of the game imo to recapture his mojo.

The Inter job was indeed a top job to land but it could have an adverse affect on Rafas career imo.
