Fantastic win from Greipel for the second day in a row.

The race for the maillot vert is shaping up brilliantly.

Sagan is amazing but it was a surprise to see him beat Greipel in a flat sprint. I wonder if Greipel would have won if he hadn't fallen earlier in the stage. Also Sagan didn't sprint on Thursday - maybe that took a little out of Greipel's legs.

I've now watched Thursday's sprint. It seems to me Cavendish had too much to do and maybe he too was hurting from the fall the day before. But Greipel did look good and deserved to win.

The Olympic road race should be fun with Sagan, Cavendish, Greipel and Goss all on for it. On their day any of them could win a bunch sprint. Boonen too.

Haven't had a sniff of the Tour yet.

Do you reckon Sagan has the all round ability to win the Tour one day?

Could be. He needs to improve his climbing in the high mountains and time trialling. But he is only young.

At this rate he'll surely win a Classic within two years. Then, who knows? He really is a prodigy.

Hesjedal's out.

Danielson's out but he was never a threat to the overall.

Schleck is out of it but was before it started. Scarponi and Brajkovic couldn't afford to lose time either but I didn't really think they had any chance. Same for Valverde. And since he rode for Valverde yesterday, we can assume Cobo has no ambitions for the GC.

It's a pity for Rolland but again he was only an outside bet for the top 10 anyway.

Wiggins, Evans, Nibali, Van Den Broek... Anyone else?

Menchov and possibly Sanchez.

Gesink is also out of contention after yesterday.

Wow, just wow. Sky were brilliant.

Ok, so Van Den Broek's mechanical put him out. I was pretty much spot on.

I never thought Menchov was a genuine contender for the top step. Today shows it.

Tomorrow should be interesting. Sky have to ride all day and I'd put money on Evans and Nibali attacking on the final descent. They have to keep Wiggins under pressure whenever they can.

And then the first TT on Monday.

Yes. After today I have no doubts he can.

Evans is still favourite for me but only because he's won it before. Today was the kind of finish he could have made up a few seconds on Wiggins. The fact he didn't gain a single second tells a story.

I'm still a bit shocked by how Sky did today. It's one thing doing that in the Dauphiné or Paris-Nice but to do it in the Tour is to be on another level altogether.

Did Froome down a Red Bull at the last minute? What a finish.

The Sky train was very impressive but yet again Evans shows why he is the current champion. Those mountain biking days showed there. Doesn't even need a train to get up there!

Evans did ride well and he is very tough, except he used Sky's train. It works much the same way as his own would.

The ride up the Galibier last year, chasing Schleck, showed what he can do - very strong on a steady pace.

There seems to be a fair bit of needle between Wiggins and Nibali. Nibali slagged off Wiggins recently and Wiggins never even mentions him as a contender.

I see Wiggins has had another little outburst after that incident with the cameraman the other day... feeling the pressure perhaps?

Fella needs to chill.

What incidents and outbursts?

Are you sure the Australian media aren't whipping up a media storm about nothing?

Every single interview I've seen from him he seems very relaxed. And he looks relaxed in the peloton too. Of course that doesn't mean he is so maybe you're right, and these are a couple of cracks. But he's certainly doing a good job of looking more at ease than I've ever seen him in a bike race.

I wasn't referring to anything said in the Australian media.

There was this...
...
and then this.

Perhaps they were both justified reactions - although the language used (mainly in the second instance) was a little heavy for the situation.

Maybe a sign of the pressure he's feeling as the tour favourite, or maybe 'Wiggo' is just naturally like that. Not casting judgement, just thought it was worth noting.

That was a brilliant effort from Wiggins - that display will give him a huge psychological boost. Can't believe just how dominant he was, really inspired stuff.

Froome also keeps on surprising too!

The cameraman thing was totally justified I think. I react in much the same way when a driver comes anywhere near me on the road and, while I'm not the most placid man in the world, I'm no more prone to anger than most. So I don't blame him at all - if it's anything it might be he just needed some sugar at the end of a stage. The cameraman should have looked where he was going - he didn't, and could have ended Wiggins' Tour there and then. Besides, I suspect that many athletes regard the media as nothing more than a necessary evil so they're more than happy to lash out at them when it's remotely justified. I don't think it's a sign of especial pressure.

And did you see Evans scream at a media person a couple of years ago when he nearly trod on his dog?

The press conference thing is a bit different and the journalist's take on it seems an attempt to be balanced and understanding of Wiggins' reaction. But it seems a bit of a mountain of a molehill all the same - more a feature of the need to analyse everything in obscure detail, much like this post.

I expect he's feeling the pressure but I also think it's nothing abnormal at this stage.

And if he is, then it didn't do him any damage on Monday.
