As much as I dislike Aldershot, it's shit seeing clubs go out of business. Especially when it's down to the ownership.

Thing is once they got promoted they never kicked on. They sacked off all the players that got them back into the football league, invested fuck all and then ended up like this. Was always going to happen.

This season was supposed to be the kick on but it never happened.

Going to be very tough to get back up now.

And then some of us whinge about the opportunity to build new markets and build a lucrative business base instead of entering a gruelling season long European competition...

Looks likely they're going to cease to exist

Aldershot Town in danger of liquidation on Thursday

The administrators of Aldershot Town say they will be forced to liquidate the club on Thursday unless creditors accept the terms of a consortium's bid.

The consortium, led by Shahid Azeem, have raised more than 600,000 in an attempt to save the non-league outfit.

BBC Surrey understands three former directors are among creditors unable to accept the terms of the bid.

Town entered administration in May with debts of about 1m, five days after being relegated to the Conference.

Current and former players of the club are believed to have been offered less than 100% of what they are owed, with negotiations continuing via the Professional Footballers' Association.

PFA deputy chief executive John Barnwell told BBC Surrey: "We're looking at it, talking to players, and seeing how we can resolve it."

Azeem's consortium, which is being supported by Tony Knights and John Leppard, issued a joint statement with Quantuma Restructuring, Aldershot's administrators, on Tuesday.

"Working with the administrators, the consortium had believed that they could take the club out administration this week," the statement said.

"However, there are still some major hurdles which, if unresolved, will prevent the only bid proceeding.

"Primarily these hurdles revolve around creditors (both football and non-football) accepting compromises in order to reduce their debts to match the offer received.

"The administrators have made it very clear that unless a deal is completed by Thursday this week, the prospects of saving the football club are slim as there is little or no cash left to meet ongoing trading and there are no other offers on the table.

"In the event that the club fails and goes into liquidation, there will not be any dividend payment to creditors whatsoever.

"The next few days are critical in terms of the survival of the club and we urge all supporters and creditors to get behind the bid put forward by the consortium.

"Unless that bid proceeds, the club will stop trading and will enter into liquidation."

Aldershot were accepted into the Conference at the league's AGM last month but are due to start the season on -10 points.

Considering this has already happened to them once you would have expected them to be a bit better run.

The fans must be gutted.

Yeah I know, problem is who is allowed to come in and run football clubs; it seems there is little to no real checks on the suitability etc...

Only a matter of time for a club to go I suppose, been so many close shaves in the past few years.

On another note I see BT sport have secured the rights to 30 non league games next season.

Wivenhoe Town goalkeeper Richie Robins attacked while unconscious

Mr Robins suffered fractures to his eye socket and cheek bones
An amateur footballer has been left needing facial reconstruction surgery after he was kicked and beaten as he lay unconscious following an attack by up to six men in Colchester.

Wivenhoe Town FC goalkeeper Richie Robins is thought to have been set upon after he tried to protect a woman.

The 21-year-old student was attacked outside Subway on Queen Street at about 03:30 GMT on Saturday.

He was out with friends after coming home from university for Christmas.

Essex Police said the former Colchester United youth team player had been punched and knocked out before the attack continued as he lay on the floor.

A spokesman said there had been about six attackers who were described as black and in their late teens and early 20s.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Colchester in connection with the attack, who has since been released on police bail.

Det Con Seff Manesh said the force was "examining CCTV to establish what happened and who was involved".

"This student has sustained some very nasty-looking injuries which will affect him for the foreseeable future.

"We're looking to speak with those bystanders who saw what happened and what started the melee."

A spokesman for Wivenhoe FC, who play in the Eastern Counties League Premier Division, said Mr Robins suffered "severe" injuries including fractures to his eye socket and cheek bones.

He added that the club "sends Richie their best wishes for a speedy recovery".

The Wealdstone Raider's coming to town

Going to this and hope he travels with his team. Got the feeling that 'Got no fans' might be chanted a fair bit by both sides

Conf South playoffs are shaping up nicely for the Hampshire sides. Basingstoke, Havant & Waterlooville and Gosport occupying 3rd to 5th.

Bromley had slipped to 2nd and beat top placed Boreham Wood yesterday after coming from behind. Now two points clear with a game in hand still and 4 to play. Squeaky bum time. Crowd was 2035 and another couple like that will see average at above 1,000 for the season

Farnborough look likely to slip down, they're quite far adrift from safety. Bromley slipped 5 past them recently to help the cause.

HTF Bromley lost to Staines last week I just don't know. I was there, it was a fair result

Did Woking a favour on Friday by beating Forest Green.

Then they nearly fucked it by drawing 2-2 at home to mighty Welling
