What I really don't get is why they are turning their anger towards Rafa (the fans), when in reality it's Abramovich that fired their beloved average RDM and chose to hire Benitez instead. Rafa took the job because he was offered it, with a potential good career move and likely shit loads of money.

They should be booing at Abramovich instead if anything.

This is what makes them so spineless, they'll never say a bad word against him.

If the fans did turn on Roman, he'd probably replace them too

It's because he slagged off the way they needed to dish out plastic flags to try to manufacture a decent atmosphere.

The fact that it was entirely true seems to be lost on them.

I know why they are angry at Rafa, but it's really Roman's fault he is the manager there instead of RDM and not Rafa's. He just accepted a big job offer when handed to him, should really be angry at the person behind. But I bet they are scared he will just fuck off and leave them as a small club again.

I think some people need to look through the Hodgson threads. He took massive abuse for accepting the job here, when clearly it should only have been the owners getting the blame. There are comparisons

And there was NOTHING on his CV whatsoever to suggest he was up to the job.

None whatsoever. People didn't want him here but he didn't get booed or abused in the slightest (at the match, obviously). Similarly he didn't have his name sung. There was a quiet resentment, nothing like the treatment Rafa is receiving, and even people like me who didn't want him at all gave him a chance. It was only when the football became more and more unacceptable that Hodgson started to get it.

The only comparison I can think of is Mark Hughes going to Man City, and even then he didnt get booed.

Maybe not at first, but the online criticism was instantly.

Granted

Chelsea fans feel they have a reason not to want Rafa, but it's been said on here that the anger should be vented at the owner instead. I can't remember Hodgson being treated with ambivalence just because it wasn't his fault he was hired which is what is being advocated towards the Chelsea fans.

George Graham going to Spurs is the best, and he didn't get booed at all. Arsenal playing legend, won the title as manager and has the Arsenal crest embedded into his patio ...and they still didn't boo him. Chelsea fans are an embarrassment.

Just had 5 minutes of Gray/keys on radio on way to work. Apparently Rafa should have showed more humility coming to the job, none of this rubbish of turning down other jobs over last couple of years for a 7 month job, not true at all according to Hairy cunt face.

He really doesn't stand a chance with so much shite spoken about him

Not everyone comes to a new job with their tail between their legs. Keyes is probably speaking from personal experience

He sure showed humility advertising the latest cracking deals at Wickes.

I keep hearing that it isn't a 7 month contract at all, andit is 18 months long. The media seem to be undecided, and are confused as to what his role is.

I hate seeing him as CFC manager, mainly because they are slagging an honourable and decent man and don't deserve him, but also because I never want Chelsea to do well. They're an irritation of a club. They are the NASL of the Premier League.

I'm pretty sure I heard Rafa say he was there for 7 months - perhaps the contract has an option for a longer stay if he is successful or they can't get the manager they want in the summer.

Ridiculous. If they'd won both games 3-0 he'd be getting no credit for implementing his methods in less than a week. Likewise two goalless draws shouldn't be held against him as some sort of proof that he's "negative".

So many scummy shitty people in football these days, seem to revel in being utter twats, just because other utter twats agree with them.

You must have really, really hated when we were crushing Real, Man Utd and Villa within days of each other. Hated those Cup finals and signing a collection of the best players in their position in world football.

Yeah, people going on about how much they liked Rafa is not as tiring as the naysayers denying we had great times with him in charge.

Fucking ludicrous.

I'm not advocating sacking Rodgers, would much rather have Rafa back though. This is painful at the moment, can't really see a great deal of progress. We have shown some promise on occasion this season, but we should be seeing steady signs of improvement. Wrong thread for this discussion anyway.
