Not the answer to our problems (well, one of our problems ) but he has looked much better than Balotelli. Credit where credit's due

Definitely one of our better players tonight. Good touch, held the ball up well and worked hard.

We're actually getting someone giving us relief by holding on to our long balls.
That doesn't sound right on a re-read.

I'm really warming to Lambert now. He is having a positive influence on the team.

lambert is so much better mainly because he is a team player, not only interested in his own glory.
and he isnt a racist

His link-up play is good and he keeps things neat and tidy. Noticed his technique is much better now he seems to be relaxing into the role.

Yeah he's been so much better over last few games & still getting match sharpness. Starting to develop and understanding with other players & more confident, good defensively on set pieces too. Great to see him play well.

He seems to one of those players who needs a run of games to find form. Still looks like he is running in treacle, but his link up play has improved immensely.

Not good enough, but the best we have. Sadly this seems to be a common theme with players in our first XI atm.
Mignolet, Toure, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard & now Lambert.

well koeman seems to have made a team at soton which is bigger than the sum of its parts,so why not look at our own starting lineup as something similar?
i know we're all dissapointed this season hasn't worked out like we'd all hoped, but i think things are slowly starting to get together, and for what it's worth i do not care who's playing and who's not as long as they perform as a proper team and go on a good run

Played a part in the first goal, major role in their sending off, held the ball up well and linked play well (when not offside which was his big failing tonight).
Definitely starting to find his feet.

He's doing well, great to see. More confident, linkup play is good & his work ethic is excellent for a big man. Hopefully see a few more goals from him if we keep the same balance in the team & few of our midfielders hit form.

I dont mean to pick on you Dan, but this is one of my least favorite things in football. Why does his size predispose him from working hard?

Would you have preferred if I said not very athletic & slow man? Was trying to be diplomatic about his mobility & the role we ask him to play.

Just think its such a coverall term. People used to say it all the time about Crouch. Good feet for a big man. What does that even mean though?
Ibrahimovic is big but no one ever says that about him. Just think its too reductive.

To be honest i didn't think it was a big deal calling him a big man. He's a big guy, slow & not very mobile. I was trying to be diplomatic but I'll say that instead of big man from now on in, as I know how pedantic people can get on here

I think we can throw some hard statistics into this equation.
What is your size and are you any good at football?

You are not getting my point.
Im not objecting to you using it, im objecting to the idea that because he is a Bigger guy his work ethic is worse. Or in Crouch's case that his ability to control the ball should be worse.

Honestly mate with the greatest respect...i don't really care. It's just too pedantic to debate over

But your work ethic is good for a big man though Alex.

To be fair, as you get taller, your body parts get pretty fucking heavy. I'd imagine it's harder to lug around 80kg all match than it is 65kg. So the reasoning for good feet, heavier appendages mean more inertia to work against.
