He did look a bit sluggish when he came back yeah. I think when he was in the clear and available to play he still only played a few minutes or maybe a half for England cos he said he was exhausted.

Let's hope we completely write off next week. We can play any number of academy players who aren't registered in the squad. So hopefully it'll be something like Kelleher, Minamino, Origi and loads of the kids.

Got a game on Sunday evening - 5 days away. Then our next meaningful game the following Sunday evening against Fulham. Hope we can give Mane and Salah all the rest they need until then as they need to quickly find their form again. Tonight was worrisome.

 totally agree
The only reason we should play a senior player is if it suits our needs. So for instance if someone needed minutes because they are coming back. Or experience for the likes of Kelleher. Although there is even an argument to say that Adrian should play in case Kelleher gets injured.
This hopefully sets us up to have a good crack at our next 3 league games

Because all professional keepers are bulletproof when shots are fired right at them...
NSFW: Contains extreme Mignolet
Kelleher's was a good save.

Don't you have to be in the Champions League squad in order to get picked? So Philips misses out, for example.

Philips is older than 21 isn't he, those who are younger than 21 don't need to be registered, IIRC from Football Manager
So we could field
Kelleher
Neco - Rhys - Koumetio - Tsimikas
Jones - Milner - Clarkson
Taki - Origi - Shaq
Or something to that effect I think.

Milner wont play, Cain has been in most squads so should play, Leave Jones out.
What about Van den Berg?
Do you think we will have 7 for the bench?
Bring back Neil Critchley for a cameo

Bloody good second half that.
IMHO, even without VVD and Gomez, we still have the best CB partnership around with Matip and Fabinho. They are both so good at reading the game.

I wouldn't be playing anyone who is likely to be playing in the league, Milner probably won't be back, and even if he is, unless a number of other people are back I don't know that I would risk him. I might even think twice about playing Neco Williams unless we are sure TAA is ok. Tsimikas, Origi and Minamino would be the only fit senior players I would play as they need the game time. Maybe we could use it to ease some of the players returning from injury back in and build fitness (it might be suitable for Thiago, not sure about anyone else), but other than that I'd play the kids, don't care about the result.
Also aren't you allowed about 12 players on the bench now?

Must rest most of the first team squad next week. I'd play:
Kelleher (give him more valuable CL experience)
Neco Rhys Koumetio Tsimikas
Cain Clarkson Shaqiri (or Ox for 1st comeback game)
Minamino, Glaztel, Origi
Subs:
Adrian, Van den Berg, O'Rourke, Larouci, Longstaff, Stewart, Hardy, Millar etc.

Can we actually give some players a rest for the game v the upronounceable Danes?
I only ask because clearly CL squads are already named and not limitless, so I'm wondering if we will have to pick people even if we'd rather not because there's no one else fit and available?

Yes, easily. In addition to the named 25 man squad, you also get an unlimited B list of U21 players. We've currently got about a dozen on ours, including a few of the lads who played last night. Curtis Jones, Neco and Rhys.

He said something about two types of Irish and about people in Dublin waving union flags when the queen visited and that not going down well with the rest of Ireland.

To be honest that is surprising and but ‘those days’ for outrage at such things should be in the past

I doubt that Klopp would do this but I don't think I would even make the first team player travel (aside from those coming back from injury who need game time). The game means nothing I would rather lose 5-0 or so than risk injuries or knackering the guys we have left.

Don't think it will be the kids first 11, i expect a few of the benchwarmers to get some match fitness (Origi, Shaq-if-fit, Tsmikas, Adrian,) and maybe a couple of first teamers to play 45 casual minutes each, just to give the kids that do play some guidance.
But if it was me, I'd be sending the U21 squad, it's a dead game and an opposition win will not affect the other 2 clubs, their future is in their own hands.

No I was including the likes of Minamino, Origi, Tsimikas etc as although senior players they aren't really first teamers this year, when the first team guys are knackered these are still not really getting minutes. Anyone who might be on the way back from injury (Thiago, Naby, Shaq), this is definately a game for them. I was more meaning anyone who you would expect to be starting the game before or after probably shouldn't travel. I imagine the starting 11could have between 3 and 7 senior players (largely dependent on people coming back from injury) with the rest being kids
