La Liga

Fixture list is officially out!

http://www.lfp.es/calendario-horario

Can't see Atletico challenging like last season; especially with Real and Barca making some good signings.

Be interested to see how the Barca attacking trio play together. Can't see Messi, Neymar and Suarez working as well as it looks on paper.

I fancy Real to win it this year.

Oh, and Suarez is back in time for El Clasico

Spanish paper Sport have reported that, according to the company Euromericas Sport Marketing, Real Madrid have so far sold approximately 345,000 'James' replica shirts in the 48 hours since the forward was unveiled at the Bernebeu in front of 44,000 fans.

That’s around 7,188 shirts sold per hour worldwide and at €75 each equates to about €26million in sales.

Its why the big Spanish teams are happy to pay a shitload for players. They somehow are able to generate vast amount on shirt sales that the us in England can't quite match on single player signings.

Was refreshing to see Athletico challenging the two big sides, but they get decimated & Barca/Madrid make several huge signings. Back to the norm.

Not sure it will be that straightforward. Barca are definitely rebuilding this year. It might take them time. Madrid look to be the team to beat, but you never know.

They do.. but barca have signed some fantastic players. They did need a clear out. On paper the two teams are ridiculous. Athletico have lost some serious talent, very unlucky.

Griezmann on his way to Atletico.

All things considered Atletico haven't done too bad with their buys so far - Mandzukic, Siquiera and Griezmann. Moya in goal is the only question mark for me.

Think Valencia will start moving up the table over the next few years. They have just been bought by Peter Lim who is looking to invest in the club and clear all of their debt which has been holding them back for so many years.

Silva, Mata, Villa, Soldado and Jordi Alba all sold to clear debt.

Be good to see how they get on.

Does anyone know when they confirm the Saturdays games, someone mentioned the week before the game. I fancy going over for a weekend, but the Sunday games are putting me off.

Not for a few weeks yet mate. They tend to delay it so that Real and Barca can pick when they want to play their games due to Europe etc

Ridiculous isn't it. Paid to give a so called 'expert' opinion and they can't even say the team name right, and in some cases (Motson!) they can't even say the player's names right!

La Liga aims to get the best players in the world in Spain

The president of Spain's top division says he wants to attract all the best players in the world to the country and rival the commercial power of the English Premier League.

La Liga boss Javier Tebas even joked he wants "the best 500 players" in global football in the league.
Luis Suarez (£75m) and Gareth Bale (£85.3m) have left England for Spain in the last two summer transfer windows.

"We are not going to stop. We want the best 500 players," said Tebas.

The Premier League's last domestic TV deal alone earned it £3.018bn.
"We want to make sure we have the biggest clubs and also the best players from the whole world in our league," said Tebas.

Real complete deal for Navas

Quote:
Real Madrid sign Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas

Real Madrid have signed Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas on a six-year deal.
Navas was a star performer for his country in Brazil this summer as they reached the quarter-finals of the Fifa World Cup for the first time.
The 27-year-old moves to the Santiago Bernabeu from La Liga side Levante.
It is believed the European champions were required to pay £7.9m to Levante to activate the keeper's release clause.
Navas will be presented to the club's fans at the Bernabeu on Tuesday after undergoing a medical.
A statement published on Real's official website on Sunday evening read: "Real Madrid CF and Levante UD have reached an agreement over the transfer of Keylor Navas, who will be tied to the club for the next six seasons."
The keeper is the third player to join the European champions this summer after the signings of German World Cup winner Toni Kroos and Columbian forward James Rodriguez.
Navas will provide competition for Spanish keepers Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez.

Navas has been fantastic since he signed for Levante, he's a very good keeper. Good price for him & better than what they curently have.

No one can watch that many games and know about all those players. As if he sat in watching every Levante game last season. It's ludicrous, but if that's what he wants us all to believe then fine

Anyone that regularly watches La Liga in general would have heard of him last season. I do & you don't as you said... me watching another footballing league is not exactly earth shattering news.

And sure all the spiffy comments won't make up for that fact you hadn't got a fucking notion what you were talking about

Agree with Dan

Watch La Liga most weekends and Navas was definitely a standout player for Levante last year. Considering Levante's budget they don't do too badly with their transfers and performances.

Navas is just the latest example (there's more obscure players that would be better examples) of a general theme of "know it all" football fans who claim to know every detail of every footballer in every league.

Dan might not be one, you might not be either Mike, but there are so many of these types on Twitter and on here at times. They claim to know every player in world football, what they can and cannot do, strengths and weaknesses etc.

In reality it's simply not feasible for anyone to watch that many games and live a normal, healthy life. So they are either lying/exaggerating or they really do nothing else other than watch football 24/7.

Is that spiffy enough for you Dan?

I get what you mean.

In fairness I could probably only name three or four Levante players for example, Navas was one only because he was arguably their best player last season, which the commentators kept referring to when watching La Liga.

That's fine, I know you watch a lot of La Liga as you're always commenting on it.

From the stats I've seen on Navas he also apparently made more saves than any other keeper in La Liga last season too, so obviously stood out somewhat.

It was just a general moan really about those people that claim to know every single footballer in world football.

Anyone watching the Supercopa tonight? Atletico vs Real.

Be interesting to see Griezmann in the Atletico system. Looking forward to seeing Oblak in goal but I think he might be injured (?)

Can't see anything other than a Real win tbh.
