Indeed, without his goalscoring we'd be bottom half. The diving prick but brilliant player.

I don't really like it but what he is often doing is knocking the ball past someone and running into them. Last week Barnes did that for Leicester and got the freekick that got them the equalizer, today Calvert-Lewin got a pen for doing the same thing. I don't think either of those are fouls but if you are seeing them awarded, aren't you going to give it a try?
Similarly when you look at the pens awarded against us, the one today, the one against Robertson for minimal contact on Welbeck, the one for handball by Gomez, even with VAR (I believe it looked at all those 3 and I don't believe any were pens) the system is fallible, until that is sorted out players are going to 'roll the dice'.
I'm not saying two wrongs make a right and I don't like it but you are clearly at a disadvantage if you don't do what everyone else is doing, feel the contact and go down...

That finish last night is a bit of a trademark for him. It almost looks mis-hit or dragged, but he has produced it many, many times. The obvious shot for the left footer is high to the top right, but that’s the easiest one for the keeper. The trickiest is low to the bottom left, which is the finish he goes for. Pulling the shot back across your body and keeping it low that way must make it easier to miss or miss hit, but he has it down to a tee.

It is almost like a snooker shot the way he does it. Just so precise and simple looking but try doing it yourself under pressure and you fail more often than not.

I think his shooting is pretty average at times. Hit enough and one will eventually go in.
There was a game last year in Europe his shooting was rubbish and then he scored from an absolute impossible position and angle. He scores the goals you wouldn't expect and misses the sort a rush or fowler would score with their eyes shut. Amazing ability for sure.

I sort of know what you mean with his finishing but his ability to get into the positions to have an effort at goal is remarkable.
Considering he can be a little wasteful from time to time his goalscoring record is amazing.
119 goals in 191 appearances
90 in the PL from 135 games
25 in Europe from 44 games
4 in the FA cup from 6 games.
No goals in the LC or other games though
Pheonomenal record really and he probably could have had more.
Lucky to have him and that's an understatement.

Think you are way off there.
His conversion rate has actually improved this season on last season's (and he was still pretty good in conversion terms then) and his goals to shots ratio in general is well above average.
Can see why you would think it though as sometimes it feels like he is the only one taking a shot in games and it feels like he takes more shots than he actually does to get a goal.
I do sometimes wonder what he would be like as an out and out finisher though, just to touch on your Fowler/Rush comment. We rarely get to see him waiting for a poacher's chance as he is normally driving in at goal from further out but I suspect his talent is such that he could very easily adapt his game to living in the 18 yard box and snaffling up cnces along with making them for himself.

For someone who's not a true striker, his goal scoring record is remarkable really.

Those numbers are incredible. He does miss some chances, but so do all strikers, and, he typically is playing from wide left so theoretically not as likely to get into positions to score. I agree his ability to get chances is what really sets him out. As mentioned his conversion rate is comparable with all of his contemporaries.
My concession on this point, is that it is the only thing that keeps him from being up in the Messi or Ronaldo territory. He remains World Class, but not quite GOAT level. He is very close though.
Our season would be unimaginable without him, whilst everyone else goes through hot and cold patches, he is typically in great form. When he hits a drought, we stop winning matches nobody else steps up.

He's a world class forward, 25 goals in all comps and he's playing nowhere near his best. I do agree that he has been much more clinical this season and in a very dysfunctional side.

He is a more rounded player than his first season here when he went nuts but this season reminds me of that. 25 goals so far but he has missed another 10 handy ones for a player of his level. Same the first year when he scored so many but he missed a load also

Did anyone read his latest interview with Marca - the timing again could be deemed as poor and for someone who is normally media shy that’s twice he’s given exclusive 1:1 interviews to them. Made some smoke and mirror comments about playing in Spain etc
Himself and his agent are acting the bollox a bit here

Marca is RM mouthpiece, no surprise to see bullshit like this the week before our CL game; they are always at it...
TBH though if they want him, they will not get him for less than £150mill with Edwards at the wheel, so stump up or fuck off !!!
Win, win for LFC IMO, 150 to spunk on a Halland or Mbappe or Mo for the rest of his contract

Meh, what ever happens I don’t want players here next season with one leg in and one leg out, ie Gini. No distractions next season, if he wants to move on, sell and reinvest. Not bothered.

I'm the same. I love Mo and he has been great for us but if him or anyone else wants to move on then that's fine by me. And I'm sure we will get top whack for him. Football is different nowadays. There will be very few one club footballers now.

Isn't it good too that we have multiple top players? Too long over the last 30 years we've had one or two superstars and then good squads. So if players like Gerrard, Torres, Suarez, Alonso were out injured - or sold - then there'd be a big drop off in quality.
Salah is brilliant. But if he isnt available, then we can still compete. If we sell him, it will be for big money, and our track record of investing in the team over the last few years has been epic.

Bit worried if we do lose Salah. He is the only player we have who scores regularly, even when he and the team is poor.

I’d not be up for him leaving in any circumstance. He is the goal threat.
Jota and him are pivotal.
