I’ll be surprised he plays with Nat Phillips. He’s just cover and is a short term signing and I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re still playing Hendo and Fabinho in defence.

Nope. Nat Philips will likely continue to play against the teams that suit him, but Davies will be taking the games Rhys might have got.

I’ve never seen him play but I don’t think he’s a long term signing and I’m not sure he’s going to improve us. He just gives us that little bit of security with the number of injuries we have at the back at the moment. I expect us to have someone else as a long term plan.

He is not better than what we have but we need bodies so he will do us until we get our first choices back.

Can’t disagree with that really man, Altho a mate says he’s apparently doing well in the Championship.

I hope he’s great and turns out to be a great signing.
I still think we’ll be playing with Fabinho or Hendo in central defence until the end of the season and he might have to partner either of them if we can’t have Matip playing regularly.

Preston fans absolutely love him. Sounds quick, passes it forward, loves a diagonal ping, reads the game well. Seems his weakness is in the air.

I actually agree. But that’s why it is a sensible signing. See what Klopp can Dow it’s him also.

I'm just imagining how different this thread might have been if we had been trying to sign him in the summer, I think the reaction might have been slightly different

Never heard of him. Proper left-field signing this! Hope he turns out a decent enough, reliable back-up

As someone on their forum pointed out - this is a Robertson-level leftfield signing.. Yeah, he'll never be our first pick but that's only because VVD is the goat.
If he does well, and we can improve him, then who's to say he doesn't cement a regular grip on a starting spot considering his age and injury record of everyone else?
It's about productivity on the pitch for us, not how much we spend on a transfer that matters.

If his true value is £10-12 mil. He'll get 18 months here until injuries sort themselves and we'll probably add someone better.
We've seen with the likes of Philips you can throw someone in higher than their level when surrounded by good players. Another prem team will take him off our hands and he will inevitably go to shit.

Amusing (for me anyway) if he was just about to join Celtic. Shane Duffy is an absolute donkey, they must be desperately trying to replace him. Another blow to Neil Lennon.

Hardly a ringing endorsement from Lawro on the beeb. Rates him as a championship player but would put him behind everyone we already have

I don't get why we'd bring him in if he'll be behind everyone we already have though......

Looking at the video, he definitely adds a new dimension with that left foot. His tackling style reminded me of Wan Bissaka though!
