Sadio just looks lost. Where is the dynamic link up between he and Robbo? And he his ability to score headers. He has had 3-4 great chances on crosses v City and again today and I’d have expected hi. To score at least one.
He’s not even got one of them on target.

I don't think any of the headed chances today were genuinely good chances as they were all too high and he was stretching for them. But his general play was a bit of a mess. The dribbling skills of both he and Salah have really dropped off, trying to take on a man and failing to execute the necessary control has become a bit of a pattern. Is it a confidence thing? Maybe fatigue?

I don't think he's missing good chances they are mostly half chances, the problem for me is we are creating sod all, we probably had 2 real chances in all today the rest were half chances or long range efforts. Midfield need to be doing more than passing the ball side to side

What the sweet round of fuck is going on with this lad ?
Its like the Covid has done a number on him and he can't remember what a football is.
Gone from being probably the most dangerous forward in the game to a complete stranger.

I don't think a few of them and mostly Mane have been the same since their brush with covid. Mane used to be so quick an opposing player wouldn't even try to race him. He seems to have lost that lethal burst of pace. And his finishing has gone to shit.

...reminds me of the day we bought Harry Kewell and when he started playing a run of games, everyone thought we'd bought his brother Barry...
Mane has been chalk and cheese the last few seasons to what he's serving up now. Mind you, he's by no means the only one, they're all well off the pace...

Front 3 look like strangers at the moment, it's bizarre & Mane has been looking like a Sunday league player of late.

It's been coming for ages. The flow between the front 3 was poor last season but each of them could conjure up a decisive moment that won the game. For me each season they have linked less well from open play. We are now where we are and that 3 should never start a game together again. Second horse to bolt today.

Did Owen really say something along these lines ?
Quote:
Owen goal
The hottest of all Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea takes came from Michael Owen, speaking to Optus Sport:
“Mo Salah is the penalty taker in this team, and if [Mane] thinks he’s getting a chance to score he thinks, “well I’m going to score, if I don’t stay on my feet, Mo Salah’s going to get another penalty. It might be a wild sort of theory, but the competitive nature of him and Mo Salah… we’ve seen them not passing to each other when one of them is in a much better position to the other. We’re seeing a little bit of selfishness, we’re seeing a little bit of disgruntled behaviour.”
‘A wild sort of theory’? That professional footballer Sadio Mane actively does not want to win penalties because teammate Mo Salah takes them and not him? Not at all. These two Liverpool players who have won the Champions League and Premier League together clearly despise each other to the extent they would rather lose than give the other an opportunity to score (if you ignore Salah’s excellent first-half pass that led to Mane’s air shot).

I’ve never seen so many ‘miss placed’ passes between two teammates.

Nothing misplaced about Salah’s lofted pass to Mane.
And I suppose Mane fluffed that chance because he didn’t want Salah to get an assist

Of course not. Salah does put some decent balls in at times. I just don't see why you're so defensive of the idea they don't get on and it could be affecting the team. Something is not right.

I’ve no idea if they get on or not, I was commenting on the idea that they would deliberately screw up passing to each other.

The other day when mane got challenged by Christensen in the box, and didn't go down. I can imagine a scenario where he would rather take on the chance than go down, because Salah would take the pen anyway.

Well that's what Micahel Owen is suggesting in the quotes above.
I'd say it's more likely that Mane simply doesn't trust the officials to give a penalty now, rather than trying to deny Salah a scoring chance.

Yeah it's a nuts theory the way he puts it. It crossed my mind, not from a standpoint of ' don't want mo to score' but if you're a striker, who doesn't take pens, surely you would try to see the chance through.

Owen can shut up, he was a striker who took penalties and his record taking them was shit, so maybe he'd have been better staying on his feet

It is just an idiotic theory being peddled by an idiot. The sort of things a child would blurt out to his mates in the schoolyard.
Whether they are best mates or not, they are still both very driven footballers who like to win and who will be on win bonuses for when the team wins games. Yes being driven and very talented probably means they will each back their own ability to get a goal, but I doubt if either would willingly and happily lose a game rather than supply the assist that lets the other score a winning goal.
And if they were doing something so ridiculous, do people think that their team mates and manager would not know and not take them to task over potentially costing the team results.

I see it more as Mane being so tired mentally as well as physically so he isn't quick enough to react to the contact by falling over.

Total bollocks, think of all the actors that hated each other but you'd never know it on screen because they're fucking professionals.

Well of course he fucking is. We only have about 3 attacking players in the entire team plus the fullbacks. So it stands to reason why occasionally he over runs the ball and it falls to one of our players.

He’s been really bad recently, but I’ll offer up this.
Watching the season documentary (I forget what it is called) and after the first lockdown they ask Mane how it was. He points out how tough it had been and particularly for him as a single guy in the city. I think this may have been an issue for Taki also, single moving to a new city, new language then - boom - lockdown within 6 weeks.
I think typically he has family and friends flying over and back throughout the season, and that’s just not possible. So if he is not happy, or as happy, as he would be then that small drop off of even 5% takes him down from the world class levels he has been operating at.
I think the pandemic has played havoc with many things, but there are many more human aspects it is easy to forget. Imagine how shit the last few months must be if you live on your own.

I think this is a part of it, pretty sure his next door neighbour was Lovren until the summer as well. Not even got that. Not been the same since he got covid, the Salah rift. He's been immense since he joined, first real troubling patch. I'm going to be fickle and move him on in the summer.

The swagger that only having 50k people idolising you can bring seems to be missing with him.
I can imagine the Lovren’s looking in on him and ensuring he always had a spare pint of milk and a lasagne in the freezer. He’s lonely
