I think it’s quite endearing that he’s trying to impress his new teammates. If Trent has taken it badly then the only sane thing Ozan can do to make up for it is to meg Robbo in training too.

To be fair i think robbo will hardly mention the 'megging' to trent

No evidence of that. Seemed pretty good considering how long he's been here. Of course, a new CB should be arrived first day the window opened and had the time to bed in by now.

Thought he was poor but don't blame him at all only here a wet day, yeah we fucked ourselves not replacing Lovren in the summer and then we leave it until the last day of the window in Jan.

I thought he was ok in general, there were a couple of times that he was a little naive. Obviously there was a huge communication error between him and Alisson.
He needs time to settle.

Thought he'd been doing ok until being burned for pace by Barnes.

It became clear in that moment that he doesn't have great pace. The collision with Allison I can live with. I blame Allison for that one.

Tbf there are few CBs with the pace of VvD and Gomez, we really miss that.

One who has that sort of pace was available for loan in early January. Militao.
One we were linked to and who is arguably faster than either of Gomez and VVD is going to Bayern.
Still a few options outthere with genuine pace for a CB though so will see in the summer how we do.

The other problem is that we are playing a high defensive line, but the pressing from the midfield and the forwards that we had in previous years isn't there anymore, which compounds the problem.

There wasn't really a problem. It was a good run, a good ball over the top and a good finish. These happen, whoever is playing.

The problem we have is no time to work Kabak (or Davies) into the system or to change the system to suit them, so we get a sub-optimal outcome. Ditto re Thiago. Ditto re having to play without gegen-pressing because too many games coming too fast. With the injuries on top, just a lot to cope with.

When we signed him I downloaded all the Bundesliga highlights for the previous 7 weeks.
Just got round to watching the first week. Schalke went down 3-0, he was pretty much the closest player to the scorer each time but was 'ball watching' for all three
I mean it's probably nothing, these are positive times right
I'll let you all know when I've watched the following week(s)

His youtube highlights show him going to ground to make sliding challenges or collecting the ball with a sweep of the legs, so easy to mistime and get sent off of chasing after some diving cunt.

Not sure what people were expecting for a 1.5m loan deal.
Is he better than Nat Phillips?

Bayern sign Upamecano for £38m... Sounds like a potential bargain. Hopefully he's shit against us now!

I just think we are going to make a ridiculous loss this year. We spent money we did not have in the summer, and this is peobably the best we can do finanially.

He's played one game far too early to judge him, he is supposedly one we have been looking at for a while, it's just a loan deal so we should consider the rest of this season as an audition for a CB position for next season. If by May he isn't good enough we let him go back and bring someone else in.

I agree, but I think Phillips has looked reasonably solid for 4th choice. Seems to be better drilled, positionally.
I was never a fan of throwing Kabak in there. Its clear players need a bit of time to bed into the system. But I agree its unfair to judge on one game.
Unless its Mignolet. I had him sussed from the very start

We won our first 3 games that season 1-0 and he 100% saved at least 1 pen in those!

He did save a penalty, but I thought his distribution was terrible. Bowled it out like he was playing school yard football, and looked flappy on the crosses. Saving penalties is more about luck, and how many do you face a season?
No, he was shite, despite the pen. Its litererally the only thing I have called right in my entire life, and I will milk it like a fat cows teat.

Saved a Walters pen at home to Stoke in debut in a 1-0 win - Studge scored I think. Suarez was banned for biting Chiellini

Looks very composed. You wouldn’t guess he only signed for us 2 weeks ago. I’d take him ahead of Upamcano on tonight’s showing that is for sure...!!!

As good a performance as we could have hoped for 2 games in.

When I've watched him in the Bundesliga he always looked quick, in the 2 games so far he has been done for pace on 2 occasions, something we rarely see with VVD/Gomez. Are they so quick or are theirs brains better tuned to the speed of the EPL and react quicker accordingly?
I do like Kazza but this speed thing is of concern.

He is not slow, but he is a 20 year old lad who has been dropped into a team that is spluttering a bit and that has no real cohesion between the CB pairing and also between the CB pairing and the midfield.
VVD and Gomez are two quick highly talented CBs who are totally used to playing both in the PL and crucially within the LFC set up and they also have had the advantage of more often than not having the likes of Fabinho and Henderson in front of them to work as a unit with. VVD and Gomez also know the other's game so well that each knows when to move up or drop back to cover the other as they know the other's game so well know and each knows when it is the other's time to advance on a player so no need for them to stop and check the play.
Kabak is still figuring out where he sits in the system and to be fair so is Henderson when it comes to being a CB. Plenty of times last night they both stayed static instead of one going to meet a player and they were both having to stop to check where the other was. All totally undertandable as last night was only the second game they have played in together, but both will look a bit clunky at times for a good few games yet.
I think that is also why both he and Henderson got caught flat footed a few times and that allowed a RBL player to accelerate quickly beyond one or the other as our two were unsure where the other was and were taking that extra second to check, which in turn made the difference between being able to go with the RBL player stride for stride or having to chase after the player after you mistimed your turn.
And on that looking clunky side of things, if Fab is back for the Everton game, then there is a good chance that Fab goes back to CB and that means Kabak will be starting from scratch again in terms of learning to read a CB partner.
Thought he was actually prety quick at times last night, especially in the second half when he came out to help TAA a few times. RBL are a pretty quick team with pace all over the pitch so considering that he did not look all that one paced at all to my eyes.

I thought he did really well last night because it was a big test. Certainly well enough to release one of our midfielders back to mf.
I do share concerns about his pace but he is only 20. Joe and Virgil are some of the quickest around so anyone will look slow.
On the subject of pace I never realised Henderson was so slow. He got burned a couple of times.
