Would you bring him back in though? If the league is tight you can't afford passengers or rustiness.

What are the rules on medals? When we win the league I would hope Van Dijk has enough appearances to get one

The club gets an allocation which the manager can distribute however he sees fit, I think.

He has played enough games to automatically get a medal afaik. He has played 5 games and I think the minimum amount of games you need is 5.

So a damaged CL & a torn CL COULD be a big difference in rehab time wouldn’t you think? I’ve had a torn cruciate where it’s completely torn off the bone & it had to be completely rebuilt but if it’s only partially torn would it be as severe?

On what grounds will it be much earlier? And.. how much earlier?

Virgil van Dijk
Mine was 100% torn and had to be rebuilt from hamstring muscle. Doctor, whose a friend, said he'd never seen anything like it. Normally you need to cut it out but mine practically disolved away when he touched it.
He videod the operation but I've not had the courage to watch it yet lol. He forced me to watch some in his office and I nearly fainted.
I'm 8 months into my ACL recovery and no way can I play football yet.
I am 50+ mind but the doctor and physio have both said that my recovery has been faster than average and I was fit for my age.
Ox had ACL also didn't he and I thought he was out for a year?

Ox did his ACL and something with it - can’t remember what but it was a bad one. VVD was a ‘standard’ ACL if that makes sense

Ok. Just edited my post with more info.
Mine was a 100% tear.
I'm not sure it makes much difference between a partial or full. I'll ask my friend when I see him for my next checkup early January.

Google tells me he torn his anterior cruciate ligament, but also ruptured his lateral collateral ligament too

Yeah I’d be interested to hear what he’s got to say on it actually

I did the lot when I did mine including the lateral & medial ligaments & cartilage too. I was operated on in October & fit for normal duties by May. I didn’t strap my snow skies on again for a few months so that’d make it around 9 months recovery I’d say.

From The Guardian
Quote:
Klopp has counselled patience regarding Virgil van Dijk’s return from an ACL surgery. The centre-half is in Dubai undergoing rehab following surgery in October and the club have sent a physiotherapist to the United Arab Emirates to work one-to-one with him.
Van Dijk has recently posted videos from his exercise bike in the gym, demonstrating he has reached the milestone of being able to bend his knee again, but Klopp cautioned there was a long road to travel. “Progress is good but there’s still a long way to go. I can be happy when I see these videos because it shows we make good progress but, with this type of injury, it will still take a lot of time. I would like to say something else but these are the facts.”

The double jeopardy rule means that if it had have been onside it would have been a penalty but the question about a red card comes down to whether Pickford was making an attempt to play the ball (there would have been a case for both as it was dangerous play IMO) but under the current rules it makes sense to be asking for the pen rather than the red.
The other thing is once it goes to VAR no one knows what is happening so if the players aren't told the officials are only looking at the offside they can't say you also need to look at the red. The transparency issue is huge because it was suggested at the time that VAR looked to see if it was a red and decided that it wasn't. Oliver here seems to be suggesting otherwise...
Also the comments about getting it right first time and there being no need for VAR to be called upon are somewhat naive, if as he is suggesting he was asking the VAR official to look at stuff, surely the VAR official isn't doing his job he should say I also think you need to look for the red card. The VAR official has the 'advantage' that he isn't caught up in the moment and influenced by players emotions, he should be able to be the calm, logical voice of reason if the ref can't be.

He is also saying that no-one - not him, not the linos, and not the VAR people - thought "hang on, what about considering whether the idiot keeper should be red-carded". As incomprehensible now as it was then....unless they are sheep. Or maybe, because of the occasion, rabbits frozen in the headlights.

Oliver is indeed a cunt and it was a shit call... but for me, it was 100% on Coote on VAR... the ref can make a mistake in the moment, seeing it just once and needing to make the call right away...
Var has as much time as needed, can watch multiple replays from various angles and isn’t under the same pressure etc.
Even if it is 3 months later, happy to hear Oliver admitting that he fucked it- we need more of that from refs for these kind of things to get sorted long term... what is fuckin annoying is that he’s coming out now saying he should have sent him off- why not at the very least have put that in his post match report and given him a 3 match suspension, not that it would have helped us at all...

Well, maybe ask him about awarding a stonewall penalty for us next time we play a match with him as ref!!

As I say, he is indeed a cunt...
But it’s hard to complain about a ref missing something without sounding like a bunch of whinging keynts- theyre human they’re gonna make mistakes, shit happens... VAR was introduced to catch things like this, and coote has no excuse for not catching it. For me, he shouldn’t get another game after what he did that game, between the Pickford challenge, and the mane “offside”...

Oh ok then, if you say so.
I bet you he's not back in Feb. You don't rush this injury, it will cause all sorts of other injuries, hamstrings, achilles, soft tissue injuries, other knee tendon issues.
Notice how he's not doing any sideways movements. Its just walking a straight line and juggling a ball. Not exerting too much stress on the knee at all. Come back to me when he's twisting sideways and turning whilst running.
