Massive statement of intent by the club. I didn't expect us to pay that much for him but big props to fsg for backing Klopp
I can't wait to see Van Dijk in a Liverpool shirt

I just pray that the strategy is not to fund this transfer with the sale of Coutinho....get through January with Coutinho still in the squad and I will take back everything I have said about FSG....

Finally.....all the bullshit sideshow can stop.
Just the small matter of him being the promised one now to fulfill.

What brilliant news to wake up.
Immediately our back line looks significantly stronger.
Assuming Coutinho stays in this window there is no reason why we cannot push on and finish 2nd in the premiership and certainly we should be able to challenge any team in the Champions League,
Welcome VVD.

Fuck me! Been playing GTA SA on my iphone and just opened facebook to see the clubs official post! What a signing...and at that price too! Smashing our previous highest fee. #Mad! Now lets hope he smashes more good records on the pitch for us! Virgil

I visit the site a few times every day but rarely post but this news has brought me out again . I am blown away with the way it has been handled, especially with todays newspapers saying he was going to City and then logging on 10 minutes ago to this news.
Very well done LFC

Fantastic news that we managed to get our target, even if it took 6 months more. Hopefully he lives up to everything we hope for and Klopp and co sees in him. Personally I havn't watched him enough to know if he warrents that big a fee, but I'm just thrilled that we're actually getting our targets and building for the second half of the season and a CL place run in.
Welcome and may you pair exceptionally well with Matip & co.

Klopp has a good track record since he's arrived so I'm hoping he's got the best fit for what he needs.
Personally, I'm sceptical about Van Djik, he's definitely overpriced at £75m but we're paying a service charge for being dick heads I suppose.
Before his injury last year he was very ropey, I happened to watch about 4/5 saints games beforehand and he was struggling. His injury came before the media started to react to his poor form and during his time out his reputation actually grew.
Hopefully it was just a dip in form and he can recover his form after his injury to what I suspect was a high level before the games I caught, the hype can't exist for no reason.

Between Virgil lacking match fitness and Klopp wanting new signings to learn the ropes, are we likely to see the big Man before May?
I'm over for the City game in a fortnight, so he better be playing and have a great song.

My son's girlfriend was here for the day.
She heard me screaming and shouting like a mad fucker when I heard the news. Thought I was a wee bit mad.
Future daughter in law I wonder!!

I'm very excited about this signing, when was the last time we had a genuinely fast and strong central defender?

Opinion rarely sets market prices. Trades do
Lindelof for €35m plus €10m add ons and £50m for Kyle Walker suggests it's not anywhere near off as you are suggesting

Awesome news. Didn't think we had a January signing in us. Here's to 2018.

If we don't continue with the same ambitions and fail to compete with other clubs on future transfers, I might come around to that. But right now I'd rather have an improvement to the starting XI than money in the bank. I've given FSG a lot of shit in the past but this is a strong sign that there was some truth about the ambitious written but not met over the summer.

In May I would have said VVD is worth £35-40m, Coutinho £80m. That looks like 75 and 150 now, not really arsed
I remember a story a few months ago, that Mike Gordon put in the hard graft to get us back on the with Southampton to get this done, looks like its all paid off
