Doubt for Southampton as a fan apparently cleaned him out celebrating with him. Knock on ankle. FFS.

Reds to check on Adrian fitness ahead of Southampton clash
Jürgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool will need to check on the fitness of Adrian ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Southampton.
The goalkeeper, whose penalty shootout save from Tammy Abraham secured the UEFA Super Cup for the Reds against Chelsea on Wednesday evening, sustained a freak injury during the resulting celebrations in Istanbul.
Klopp confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning the club’s medical team will need to assess Adrian’s ankle issue prior to the journey to St Mary’s.

It's definitely a hard enough season without one of our own supporters wiping out half the squad and injuring our reserve keeper with a sliding two footed tackle.
Unprecedented.

Ady seems optimistic.

On his chances of featuring at St Mary's, he added: "Yeah, I think I have many chances.

He was going some way to easing my injured Alisson anxiety, and then he does that
Didn’t cost us, so hopefully it doesn’t get in his head.

Good shot stopper. However, he’s an absolute fucking liability with the ball at his feet

He's going to be ok. Even Alisson made mistakes last year. The way we play kind of puts pressure on him really as we wants to try and pass it, but this was a bit unnecessary and he should have played it safe.

I think he is excellent on the ball. He's far from being a liability. He made a mistake and it cost us a goal. He should just avoid taking an unnecessary risk such as the mistake today.

There was no real pressure - it was up there with Karius's howler against Madrid.

He's alright, the drop off is just much worse for us because we have by far the best goalie on the planet as number 1

And at least it sounds like he punished himself for it instead of standing like a cabbage, which is what Mig and Karius did

Is this a direct quote from the Mignolet thread?

It's a mistake and Alisson had a similar one last season. Nothing to be worried about.

He made two big mistakes with the ball at his feet today. Both times when he received the ball there wasnt an opposing player anywhere near him. That does not constitute being good with the ball at his feet

Like some of Alissons early mistakes, would rather it happened in a win and which he'll learn from.

TBH.....The mistake was just waiting to happen. He was the best and worst thing about the first half, with the majority of their moments coming from his uncertainty with the ball at his feet. Plenty of mistakes in that first half finally punished, probably the inactivity for most of the second half didn't help.
Not confident enough with the ball at his feet, not good enough with his efforts out from the back. Wouldn't come off his line on a few occasions in the first half as well.. He's just nowhere near the level we require our keeper to be, but we have to manage for the time being.
It's difficult for him though.....thrown in like this, no proper preseason etc, but I'd expect plenty more of the same in an extended run.

It doesn't state he's a liability with it either. Our game is based on passing the ball from the back and it's important our goalkeepers are comfortable doing, which he clearly is. Mistakes happen and most of the time it's costly because of the position. He'll be fine.

Also, he probably hasn't trained that much with the team since his arrival? With game time, he will know what to do in situations.

Klopp on Adrian error.
Quote:
But Sadio scored a fantastic goal in pretty much the best moment at least of the first half, in the last second pretty much. That helped, of course, and in the second half we made other big steps. We really controlled the game better, did a lot of good things, and then minute 83, I saw it up on the screen, and Adrian thought ‘I played really well, so maybe I have to make the same mistake as Ali did!’ and kept the game a little bit open. So then they came up and Ingsy had a big chance. That’s normal and I think then the boys felt the tiredness, that was the moment you think ‘really? Now we have to go again?’ So, we kept the result, I think we deserved the three points and I’m completely fine with that.
On whether he spoke to Adrian about his error…
Yes: ‘You finally arrived, welcome!’ Ali did the same. Obviously it’s a goalie thing at Liverpool, no problem with that as long as we win the games. All good.
On Adrian’s performance…
Adrian had a swollen ankle and we played too many balls back to him in that period. I was happy with everything he did today, all the saves, all that stuff. The other players have to then feel more the responsibility for the build-up and cannot give all the balls back to him and hope the pain killers still help or whatever. I don’t think the goal was because of that, but a few other balls were. He is completely good with his feet. If you would have seen his ankle on Thursday after we left the plan then you would say even the pass before the [Southampton] goal was better than you would have expected! It is all fine.
On how close Adrian was to not playing…
He had a clearing session this morning at 10 o’clock and then the message flew to my iPhone and said he is fine. If the message would have been he is not then I would have had to make a decision, but until then it was all good. We were waiting for that. He said at breakfast he would be fine, but we had to test it and that’s what we did.

I agree with Klopp that we played too many back passes to him whilst we knew he was going into the match with his injured ankle. I’m not worried about it & feel he’ll do better once the injury has cleared up.
