Comments from Rafa
Interesting to see Rafa come out and say we are hoping for maybe 2 or 3 more signing's this summer.
I wonder what the real cash situation is at Anfield at the moment as I think Alves is someone he is going to chase until he gets him or it gets so ridiculous he moves on (a la Simao) we obviously would like a striker as well but it is getting hard to work out who that may be.
Who do you guys think these 2 or 3 signings may turn out to be?

I'd take those 3.
I do wonder if there is another "Momo" signing this summer that comes from out of the blue.

It does sound like he's after a couple of options for Right Midfield, and I'd also expect he's trying to bring in another striker.
Surprised we haven't heard about any more players leaving.

I think there may be some milage in the Cameronasi rumour (or however you spell it) seems to be a hard worker on the pitch and if Juve get relegated then he would be on the cheap.

Yes I agree with Pennant and Alves - Kuyt or Bent depending on money I should think

I hope it's a striker, right winger and central midfield backup.
Defoe, Alves & Nolan would be nice to complement the squad.

Could be a nice little trio to turn up at Melwood for training!!
Not sure that Defoe will be an option now we have Bellers.

We need a 'fox in the box' though, I can't see Bellamy being that for us. Fowler still has it but has obviously slowed down over the years, and I percieve Bellamy as a 'wide' striker who likes to drift to the wings and create chances (and space) with his runs.
We need that crucial striker who does the boring job of always being in the right place and putting it into the inside side netting, ergo unsavable, and chipping in with 20+ goals. I've not seen much of Kuyt to tell if he is that type of player.

A Lineker/Owen type you mean? Someone who does feck all but score? I'm not sure todays game allows for such a player.
I am still to be swayed by Kuyt. He had a bad World Cup. I've only seen compilations of him in which he looked great but then I saw the same of Cisse so I am a bit weary

I reckon Nolan will go to spurs to replace carrick
Rafa has said he is going to use Zendan! as the backup centre mid
Bent is a no go, I'm sure they want something stupid for him

To be perfectly honest I don't want him, but he is the type of player we need. At 29 I think his best years are behind him, but we have enough players who can score from 30 yards, we just need one who can score from 3.

exactly, someone like Horseface, or larsson/hasselbaink a few years ago. Looking at it most good strikers from a few years ago all done that job, there isn't any real quality poachers left anymore - is it a dying breed. I think it was Fowler who said something like "Footballers today don't play with the head, they are all big, strong, fast and fit. More athletes than footballers"

Id go for a right sided player, Alves or Pennant.
A striker possibly Kuyt finances permitting.
And a goal keeper.

I've always rated Gera. I think his injury last season meant WBA went down

I'd be interested in taking Zoltan Gera if he was cheap, and he must be cheap surely. He looks like a useful player to have in the squad.

news is juventus, fiorentina and lazio will all be relegated.
on the other hand, i dont mind yakubu as well, he looks like a young version of jimmy floyd hasselbaink, but i doubt he will come cheap.
gera i guess would be available at 4M and he had said before he feels proud to be linked to a great club like Liverpool.
