The most obvious transfer of the summer will be...David Nugent to Everton

He loves them. He couldn't be trying to attract David Moyes more than if he was gyrating in front of him wearing an Everton shirt and muttering over and over again in a crap Scottish accent: 'we are the People's Club, we are the People's Club'

Striker dreams of Goodison move Fri, Feb 16 2007 09:53

Preston striker David Nugent has revealed that he is dreaming of a move to Everton, but only if Preston fail to gain promotion.
The England Under-21 star was a boyhood Evertonian despite being on the books of Liverpool as a youngster, and has said that it is his aim to one-day wear the Blue of the Goodison Park club in the Premiership.
Nugent told The Independent: "I want to play for Everton, there's no question about that.

"Everyone knows I'm an Everton fan. My hero was Duncan Ferguson and, hopefully, I will play for them in my career and I'm confident I will do. I used to wear my Everton top underneath my Liverpool training top, I hated wearing red at the time, but they gave me my chance to play at the School of Excellence and it was great there.

"Now I've moved on. I am doing well at the moment with Preston but only when I am in the Premiership would I say I have proved those people wrong."

Nugent also believes that being released from Anfield as a schoolboy was the best thing that could have happened to him.

"It is hard for a young lad to be released by Liverpool at 14.

"But I think you've got more of a chance of coming through the lower leagues when you're released at 14 than 16 or 17, and I was determined. I've had other setbacks with injuries and illness but I was determined to keep going.

"Just after I was released by Liverpool I contracted viral meningitis. It wasn't a nice time by any means but what has happened since has been wonderful. Now I would say the best thing that ever happened to me was being released by Liverpool."

He added: "It's not nice to be told you're not good enough so it's wonderful to be where I am now and it would be great to go into the Premiership with Preston and see their faces. It would be nice to think they'd have to buy me for £20m in a few years' time when they could have had me for nothing."
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

Methinks that a few tap ins against the might of Southend and Colchester have gone to a certain young Scouser's head. £20m?

Not at all up his own arse or anything. I'm sure Liverpool Football Club the most successful club in English football will be devastated David Nugent scorer of an enourmous 30 goals in 80 games in Division one has escaped our clutches. How will we survive?

I doubt he'll get into the team with that goal machine Beattie whiles he's there.

While he might be spouting **** its good to see that determination to succeed and prove people wrong. Its this that drives him on he probably wont be as good as his desire but dont slate the lad for trying to prove those wrong who said he wasnt good enough.

Also he is ahead of Mellor who the same people said was good enough?

Though must admit why settle for the bitters if you have any ambition

                      LMAO

What a **** that Nugent, so what he thinks he's worth £20m, Everton would obviously never be able to pay that, so I'd assume he meant £20m when he was with Everton and becoming a 'high-profile' player. So he'd go there, to get his value up and then leave? Schoolboy fan my arse, you couldn't stir **** that well in a tumbler

Ive been working in Nugents Girlfreinds house. He ****ing HATES us for letting him go when he was young. Boro and pompy bid £6 mill for him in the summer but Preston rejected them.
Never goes out on the piss up and is just desperate to play for the blue ****e. Very decent lad, besides the fact he is a blue.
