    Top of the league

Okay I'm not sure if this is thread-worthy and I realise a club of our stature shouldn't be getting giddy about being top in September......but I'm bored ****less.

Two of the teams above us (Chelsea and City) play on Sunday, and Wigan are away at Newcastle.

Assuming Wigan lose or draw, should we beat The Rams tomorrow we will be back at the top of the league - for 24 hours, at least.

When was the last time we were top of the table? Was it under Houllier when we were unbeaten for the first 12 (or so) games before collapsing spectacularly?

    Great thread...

I can't remember the last time we were top but the 'meedja' will remind us it's only temporary anyway until Chelsea or the Mancs claim back their rightful place...
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

        Really ****e thread, huh?!

Still...although it's meaningless in the grand scheme of things, it's always nice to be top, and on Saturday night we should sit ATOP the Premiership.

Anyone know who our game in hand was/is scheduled to be against?

          Blackburn at home I think.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

We should have played West Ham at home on August 15th when we played Toulouse away.

                      :whatever:

It was a smokescreen for something else.

Yes, you're right. I remember now.

I don't think it's been rescheduled yet either. We play them away some time in January - surely it'll be before then? Hate having games in hand.

If for no other reason than for the next few weeks we might get some 'the pressure is on Chelsea with Liverpool having played on Saturday' headlines on SSN it would be great to be top at this stage of the season. All that **** started on about the second weekend with Chelsea and Man United last season.

                            That's correct, my mistake

If we keep playing nice attacking football, it should be three points in the bag then
