Another promising player, who'll be buried in the grave that is Chelsea :sigh:

Poor Reading, they didn't even get any money for him.

1. Why the hell do Chelski want him?

2. Why the hell for footballing reasons did he join them?

Im sure he's only going for the money and the medals, he wont play many games, just pick up the wages and whatever medals they get.

Good player in a small team at Reading

He probably wants the Premiership title (which he will never get as from now on, we'll win it another 18 times...)

3 years too late eh? :haha:

He will get more games than people think. It's a long season, they play 3 CMs, and Chelsea are going to lose Essien and Mikel amongst others for the African Nations Cup.

...but wont be in the first team for big matches, he'll be like SWP and bridge and look how they ended up

What do you think Sidwell should've done? Turn down the chance of winning a major trophy because he might not play more than 30 games next season? Come on.

SWP had options, other top teams wanted him and he could've made a better choice. But for a player like Sidwell this may be the only opportunity he has to join a club that has a great chance of winning trophies every season.

Maybe they will and maybe they won't, but if it's your opinion that Chelsea 'don't have a chance' of winning a trophy next season then there's no point talking to you about football really. :shake:

Jeez Relax Ved. :)

Im playing devils advocat. They will have a chance like the rest.

Its just seems strange to me that they have all the money in the world to get the best of the best but decide to go for Sidwell an alright player who played his best season in an alright lower level team

Well just for future reference, playing devil's advocate is presenting another perspective for arguments sake, not misinterpreting what someone else is arguing :crackoff:

I still think that a better analogy is Scott Parker. He was the sort of player most big teams wouldn't have taken the risk on as he would have been too expensive and wasn't yet ready for the big time. He went to Chelsea and even though he didn't play a lot he improved a lot as a player and got the chance to play at a level he may never have got the chance to if he hadn't made the move. He also got a great deal of money.

I would assume that for both Chelsea and Sidwell view it as in all likelyhood a short term move but in his position if no other big team came in for you would you not want the chance to try and prove yourself?

It is also worth noting that next year is the African nations and so Mikel & Essien will be away for a good while leaving a large window of opportunity for him to play games.

He will get paid more money at Chavski than he would at almost any other club in the world.

Fair play to him for joining them :handshake:

His other main option was Newcaste. :eyebrow:

In those circumstances, I don't blame him one bit for choosing the chavs :haha:
