    Chris Kirkland

Don't know if this is the right place for this or not, but apparently Chris Kirkland has had to be replaced after getting injured in a tackle in his first match of the season.

Don't know how badly - was limping apparently and had to come off.

This poor fella never seems to play a match in the Prem without getting hurt does he?

he never gets a break does he? it's a shame for him but i think he's just the goalkeeping version of darren anderton.

Just going by what was said on Gillette Soccer Saturday. Just before they broke for adverts they were saying how he had been injured in a tackle and had to come off, and how much bad luck he has getting hurt etc.

        I'm confused too now!!!

He definately finished the game. I saw him make a save towards the end of the game

Always feel sorry for Kirkland. He always seemed to be a great keeper when I saw him play for the England U-21's and I did hope he would prove to be massive for us, but it never really worked out for the lad. Never mind the few games he did play for him, he played all right, but conceded the sort of goals that made you think he was just jinxed, such as the Carsley one in the derby.

He never seemed to be a great keeper for us. He was rubbish. He's easily one of the biggest wastes of money in the Houllier era.

He's big, that's all. He's a poor shot stopper, has little or reflexes, no agility and is obviously ridiculously injury prone. For £6m I think we're entitled to expect a whole lot more than that.

He was at fault for Newcastle's second goal yesterday.

Completely his fault IMHO. He parried the shot right at Ameobi, a decent keeper would have put the ball round the post or tried to get his body behind it and take the sting out of the shot and gatthered it close to his body.

He never impressed me when he was here and if he wasn't English he wouldn't be as highly regarded as he is.

Totally agree. On the rare occasions he was actually playing, he was so often caught out by refusing to come off his line. His pace off the line is terrible.

He's almost alongside Joof for money wasting.

He's very rarely mentioned in the same company as Diouf , Diao and Cheyrou but I think he merits a place there.

Fingers crossed we'll get a couple of million of him at the end of the season.
