..it just gets worse for him doesn't it?:shake:

Expect him to by applying for coaching jobs around Christmas time.

Hope he lasts long enough to take them down but it doesn't look good for him.

Bit like Roy Evans, too nice to be a top class manager IMO.

He's so old school it's painful. I hate to say it but the longer he stays in charge the more likely it is that Bolton get relegated. In fact I will go as far as to say that if he is still manager post Jan, Bolton will go down.

Legend for Liverpool but clearly hopeless as a manager :handshake:

I think Sammy Lee could turn out to be a bit like Brian Kidd - a respected coac who turned out to be a poor manager.

I hope he turns around but he certainly doesn't seem up to it so far.

I think it is a bit early to judge. Alladyce left Bolton at the right time if you ask me, the squad was aging and had gone as far as it was going to go. Lee has tried to rebuild and change the style which was always a big ask for his first job. I admit that he hasn't started well but I think he deserves until 10-15 games in to see if he can make any improvement.

My impression is that he may be a better coach or that at least he needs a good defensive minded assistant (no disgrace as Fergie has relied on Kidd, McClaren and Queiroz at times to balance out his own limitations - part of being a good manager is knowing when and what to delegate). I think there have however been flashes of really good football from them this season though which gives me hope that he might do something with them.

Reminds me of last season with charlton.

Long serving manager quits, some young gun comes in, makes a few "interesting" signings, bombs out and gets binned before Christmas.

Don't like seeing an ex-Red legend failing, but I don't really like Bolton either.

My dislike of Bolton has completely vanished now Allardyce has gone. I'd forgotten that I used to quite like them a decade or so ago, but Allardyce's motely crew ruined that.

Hope Sammy turns it round, but I've little or no confidence that he will.

I really rate Alladyce and think he did a great job and partly as a reaction to everyone else hating them I have softened my stance on them. I used to hate them when they had Colin Todd as manager and when they bought a seemingly unending stream of Scandinavian no marks to the PL. They seemed to epitimise an era of British football when clubs seemingly bought foreign players because it was the fashion with no discernible quality control.

You're far too fickle Shaggy :D

In fairness, I can see my dislike of Bolton slowly switching to the barcodes. The thing that annoyed me about Bolton, apart from Fat Sam, was that they always signed up the ***** of football (Anelka, Diouf etc) and they were always a dirty ugly team.
Okotcha was the exception, man, he was a fine player.
It's players like Kevin Davies that pissed me off

I had a feeling Sammy Lee wouldn't cut it as manager. I feel bad for him as he's such a genuinely nice bloke. At least if he fails as manager he will still be very highly sought after as a coach by the majority of premiership sides.

He'll get the sack without doubt, ill be surprised if he lasts to November.

He's a number two and that his limit

Was always in on the cards

He's a top coach but I don't think may people expected him to do well as a manager. There was certainly a few eyebrows raised when he was given the job.

I think he'll be gone soon because I really can't see him turning it around.

yeah, it strikes me that he is very good at being told to motivate the troops and get them running round doing training exercises, but when it comes to running the show he is completely lacking, bless him.

To look at him on the sideline he just doesnt look like a Manager he wears a suit thats about 10 times the size of him and looks silly

note this doesnt make him a crap manager its just an observation

In some respects he's been a bit of a sacrificial lamb. Whoever took over from the fat one was always going to struggle. Fat Sam had built that team over about a decade. Sammy was cheapish to employ, so he'll probably be cheap to sack.
Sadly I think it's inevitable.

I really rate Alladyce

The mans an idiot. Spent all summer supposedly preparing newcastle and couldnt get together a decent midfield. My god they have a shit midfield. Takes his team to Derby and leaves Obafami Martins on the bench, chooses Ameobi instead.

Then brings on Martins for Owen when 1-0 down in a move of clear tactical genius. Fuckin idiot, his team couldnt even score against Derby ffs

Only 1 man to blame, Allardyce. Never ever thought much of him.

Derby 1-0 Newcastle :haha:

Owen was injured to be fair. I dont like Fat Sam though, or Newcastle for that matter. How they can claim to be a big club astounds me when they've not won anything for over half a century. They seem to think that because they get 50,000 turning up that qualifies them as massive which is obviously bollocks because any one-club, big city would be the same.

Been talking about Bolton to my mate at work who supports them. He says things are ominous for Sammy. They've got a UEFA Cup game, Derby and Spurs coming up so he reckons if they dont get anything out of that lot he'll be off.

When you get players gesturing to the bench going 'what am i supposed to be doing?' its not a good sign. In fairness, Sammy has tried to do things his own way by playing decent football but the players who are still there are used to the hoof system and he's contributed to his own downfall by buying players who dont know their arses from their elbows.

It really depends on what you mean by the size of a club though doesn't it? They do have a big and passionate fanbase and that to some extent does make them a big club and they certainly pay fat wages. Obviously most fans of top 4 clubs judge clubs size by their historical success in winning things - in which case Newcastle are far from a big club.

I think you have to believe that you can get something from those games (at least the first two) if you want to manage in the PL to be honest. If you get a bit of momentum in those then you would fancy a crack at Spurs - so it is a pretty good set of fixtures to have at this point if you ask me.

I was in the Paddock against Bolton at home last season, and some twat was shouting 'Sammy ya fuckin seal, fuck off' etc

Firstly, why seal? :rash:

and secondly, why would this prick have a problem with Sammy?

I was ashamed of this bloke quite frankly. I'm only 21 but I know from my dad that sammy was like a clockwork mouse, always gave his all...i hope he turns it around.

I think Sammy has tried to change too much too soon there.
Bearing in mind that he kept all of the best players there, i would have thought the change to a more fluid passing style would have to be gradual rather than immediate in order to make sure Bolton remained a fucking hard team to beat while they changed their style.

I feel for him but sadly i think the writings on the wall for Sammy.

Sammy was called a seal because when he was warming our players up before the game he'd just stand in the middle of a circle of players, hunched over, clapping like a seal.

Sammy Lee has bought some very average players this summer and hasn't really been helped with some of his more established players like Kevin Nolan.

He is in some trouble though and I don't think he will be in a job at Christmas.
