According to the german magazine "Der Spiegel" the 5 below are the quickest in today's football after testing players at the biggest clubs in europe.

This is sprinting btw. and not with the ball which might have changed the result a bit. Also there might be quicker player at other clubs not tested.

1: Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid (33,6 km/p.h.)
2. Arjen Robben, Bayern München (32,9 km/p.h.)
3. The Walcott, Arsenal (32,7 km/p.h.)
4. Wayne Rooney, Manchester United (32,6 km/p.h.)
5. Robin van Persie, Arsenal (32,1 km/p.h.)

Surprised Messi is not there, anyone else missing?

No Babel?! Rigobert Song?! :jaw:

Not surprised Ronaldo is top, he's a proper athlete. RvP is a bit of a shock

I was actually most surprised that Rooney is on that list, never struck me as being that quick. Not that he is slow, but in the top-5 is a surprise to me!

Ahem, "biggest clubs in Europe".

They probably only did the top 3 in each country hence Rooney and RVP.

Don't get the Rooney bashing...watching the Villa game on Saturday, when he was tackling back into his own half he was easily out pacing the Villa players, and some of them are definitely no slouches. I think the term the commentators used was "deceptively quick" cos he's a big lad.

I'm shocked Giggs isn't top of the list.

How can some of them be faster with the ball than without???

These tests are probably not that good, and a bit annoying not being able to see how and who they tested.

Because the first 45 meters is from a standing start, the second part is running full pelt with the ball.

I think he's a fully commited player...not as good as some commentators would like us to believe, but definitely a great player never-the-less.

What does running with the ball in this test consist of? Do you have to take a certain number of touches or always have the ball so close to you? Otherwise in this test having a crap first touch could be an advantage :crackoff:

That 1st list was accurate only they forgot to say they only tested 5 players!
