    Would 4-3-3 be ideal?

Just thinking about side *at the moment* and it seems to me that the first 11 players that seem to pick themselves are:

    --------------Reina-------------
    --Finnan--Carra--Hyypia--Riise--
    ----Gerrard--Sissoko--Alonso----
    ------Bellamy-Crouch-Kuyt------

You could argue for Agger but lets assume he's injured, none of our wide men seem up to the job at the moment, and Garcia maybe gives too much of the ball way (tonight in particularly).

So we've got Bellamy and Kuyt who can drift out wide and both deliver good crosses, but are also strong can hold their ground, which is what we need at Old Trafford. Either can drop off to give a 4-4-2, or even a 4-5-1, but can attack as a 4-3-3.

    Thoughts?

Wouldnt try it against the Mancs, Ronaldo and Giggs would run riot out wide, considering the crosses put in tonight by Boredeaux

wouldn't exactly say Gerrard/Pennant/Garcia and Aurelio/Gonzalez/Zenden would do much to defend against either of them tho.

Like I said nothing to stop Bellamy and Kuyt going out wide.

I think we'll see a left side of Warnock and Riise and right side of Gerrard and Finnan on Sunday.... Alonso and Momo will run rings round Carrick / O'Shea, Scholes or whoever Fergscum plays in the middle.

I say play with wing backs when Agger is back, maybe stick Paletta in until Agger is fit.

3-5-2 with Riise and finnan as wing backs and Gerrard playing in the hole.

Nah that'd be dangerous considering we aren't defending well as it is, I think the back 4 must stay as it is.

As long as Aurelio is nowhere near the game on Sunday, I'll be content.

I reckon Aurelio/Riise is bang on to be our left side, but I've also got a horrible feeling Gerrard might end up over there.

the Aurelio Riise left side is probably the best we've got at the moment tho.

Would rather see Warnock, Riise tbh...esp against Manure.

Thoughts are that is a home formation. But i'd drop Crouch, and put Kuyt at the point (Kuyt is the closest we have to a natural striker). I'd put Gonzo on the left - he'd offer more natural width in the final third, while also providing us a simple shift to make 442 if we needed more bodies in midfield.

I see your thinking for having Crouchie up there i.e. fed long balls to him and allow Kuyt and Bellers to develop the second ball. We need more craft than that though.

Agree Garcia shouldn't be allowed in midfield anymore, especially given he's a very good second forward. Good in the air also for his height.

Interesting point about putting Gonzalez in that spot, but based on tonight I wouldn't put him there, especially not against the mancs where he would probably get whipped. Would love to have a fit Harry Kewell because he would be perfect from there.
