We did also spend some money on Aquilani (£17M+). I guess Meireles is more of a Aquilani replacement than Alonso.

Great point.

Though things would look slightly better had we bought the right player after the sale of Alonso. Throw in a quality £17m player with Poulsen and Meireles
and things look a lot better.

Not really, no, but I think that has been down to his attitude rather than ability

He seemed to clash with Rafa and obviously Roy wasn't too keen either

I can forgive Carroll for the Time being.

But We really have come way way down from a quality midfield.

Where too open in the middle and we no longer press or put pressure on the opposition when we don't have the ball. We miss Gerrard and someone to be Alonso.

We will see alot more dire performaces.
