Oh no. And I do agree. It is obscene. But I think all athletes are overpaid. Especially the brawling, bad mannered, illiterate, drug taking, street thugs we have for athletes here in the States.

Apparently you have missed the news on how much he and Posh like to shop and travel. The kind of shopping they do costs a lot of money. But in all honesty I am just hoping he has a positve impact on the sport here. I would like to see it be as popular as our football, basketball and baseball. It's a wonderful game and people here have no idea what they are missing.

I read somewhere that it's practically the most popular recreational sport in the states, or that it's certainly very close to flag football and baseball.

And what about the MLS' salary cap, surely £1m a week completely makes a mockery of that?

Soccer is very popular here, but nothing like the tradional sports. It's fairly new here. And still gets some flack. I hope things will continue to change and people will see it for what it is. Becks is all over the news here, along with comments on his salary....
MLS recently changed its rules on salary caps, clearing the way for Beckham to sign a lucrative deal. LA Galaxy has already started raking in the cash since the news was announced.

I have to give credit to him that at this stage of his career he has managed to secure such a lucrative deal to play football in one of the worst leagues in the world. I do think that we have to look at the fact that this move is more to suit his trout of a wife in the hope that she can actually rekindle some sort of career, not that she had one in the first place, than suit his own! And if she can't do anything at least she can be even more pretentios than she already is by hanging out with some of Hollywoods finest Z list celebrities. I wonder how long it'll be before she's climbing out of Limo's with Brinteny and Paris with her beef in full view just to get her picture taken?

David Beckham would, if he had any ambition left in him, have signed for a club in Europe that was still playing CL footy and had designs on winning their league title. I guess the fame and glamour of L.A. and his friendship with that lunatic Tom Cruise was more important to him. How long before him and skinny spice are fully paid up members of the Tom Cruise and Katy Holmes scientology cult?

becks is a very daft person, like when he told the press that he deliberatly got a yellow card so he couldn't get suspension in the later stages, and said 'you didn't think i was that smart'

commercially he's done very well, and i'm not discrediting him for that...

is what Becks is getting over in the states, that's fooking ridiculous money, what he's gonna collect in a week would go a long way in preventing world poverty, he feckin better make good use of that money, loads of donations to charities/other good causes etc.
