In fact, there's more chance he's a very naughty boy than the ****ing Messiah. Not long ago (this week, in fact) there were some people saying they'd take him over Rafa. Dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Can't remember mate, but I've read it a few times. I think BOB has been an advocate in the past, and I think he may have also said he'd take Rafa to go if O'Neill were to come in. Eh Bob? Eh?!
O'Neill is a likeable bloke and a good manager. No better than 'good' though. He's nowhere near Rafa's class. His brand of football is a direct one, and not the sort of football I want to see at our club.
Would those 'O'Neill to LFC' advocates like Strachan at Anfield? He's done just as good a job at Celtic as O'Neill did, if not better.
Villa's freefall doesn't make O'Neill the worst manager in the world, but nor did their good start to the season make him the world-beater many claimed him to be. The truth is somewhere in between - which isn't good enough for us.

I think that's a bit unfair. It seems to me that Keegan was a better player, mainly because of his athleticism, while O'Neill is a far better manager.
IMO Shaggy's summed it up well.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Never rated him myself.
Can't see the facination at all.
Agreed
Was amazed by all the swooning over him to become our manager. I suppose to be fair we had GH at the helm at the time but he is still viewed in an overly complimentary manner. I think he is very average and always have done.
Apparently Villa are 1 point better off this year than they were with O'Leary last time round.
Maybe when O'Neill gets to sign a couple more (ex-Celtic players probably ) things will pick up again. I'm wondering if his time-out from football hasn't affected him adversely, even though it was just a short leave of absence.
I think they just have too few experienced defenders. They have actually mostly been playing pretty well. Them getting Sorensen fit will be a boost aswell.
He is a good manager, but I think the Villa squad lacks the type of players he needs to play his prefered game. Not sure why he hasn't bought in a few people, maybe he wants a season to bring on some of the young players before deciding where to invest.
