Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm with you Neil. I do typically enjoy his commentary though. Yet I also find the limousine on bricks line tediously tired and pathetically short on wit.

Alan Green, the BBC’s resident racist does it again. Tired of picking on Sir Alex Ferguson and Sam Allardyce, Liverpool’s favourite hack has another go at Everton
By Sack the Juggler | Related entries in Uncategorized

Ofcom regulate the majority of the communications industry in the UK. One of the key things they regulate is the integrity of a broadcast, in particular to ensure that “the news, in whatever form, is reported with due accuracy and presented with due impartiality”. In fact anyone reading Ofcom’s Broadcasting Code would find it difficult to understand how Alan Green could get a job anywhere as a journalist …until you realise that the code does not apply to the BBC.

Once you understand that then Alan’s career with the BBC becomes apparent.

You see Alan happens to be one of the most reviled and bigoted members of the Broadcasting profession, whilst amazing also being one of the BBC’s favourite sons. However, its only the BBC who thinks this, and as they are (currently) excluded from Ofcom’s regulations then they can apparently get away with allowing him to air his bigoted views.

And some of those views are corkers.

“Me no cheat”, a reference to Manchester United’s Djemba-Djemba’s ability to speak English, which amazingly Ofcom did intervene in saying, “”We considered that the suggestion that a black player was incapable of speaking grammatical English was inappropriate, particularly given the drive to eradicate racist attitudes in football”. The BBC’s response was that Mr Green’s comments were “ill judged”.

“Number 17 - that’ll be the chicken chow mein, then” Mr Green’s reference to Manchester City’s Sun Jahai was also said to be “ill judged” by his BBC bosses.

Alan isn’t just bigoted about race, he’s also bigoted about football too, which you would think would be something of a drawback for a football commentator ….but not in the BBC apparently….

He freely admits that he hates Sir Alex Ferguson on a “personal level”, and when Everton took his precious Liverpool’s fourth place a couple of seasons ago, Mr Green’s impartial comments were, “David Moyes should see a doctor”. The following season he had a falling out with Sam Allardyce for calling his team’s football, “ugly” (although Mr Green swears the falling out had more to do with Big Sam’s friendship with Sir Alex).

And now Mr Green has done it again. He’s called Sylvester Stallone a “B-list celebrity” (surely not anywhere near Mr Green’s league?), and then he inferred that local Liverpudlians were likely to be thieves by saying Mr Stallone had got to check whether “his limousine was on bricks”.

Again the BBC came out with yet another statement, this time saying Mr Green’s remarks were “meant to be humorous but they were not” and that they apologised for the offence caused.

And that is where the trouble lies. The BBC has given Mr Green his voice on 606, and in that role as a talk show host, his job is to shock, to be controversial and to entertain. Admittedly most of the tedious drivel talked about on the show makes most intelligent people lose interest very quickly, but it seems to keep Mr Green amused and as long as he has his cohorts calling in then the BBC is happy.

But its when he transfers his talk-show script to his day job, that of sports journalist and football commentator that Mr Green and the BBC lose control. Mr Green is not there as a pundit, he’s there to commentate on the game not to raise his profile through his outrageous comments, but because he’s a luvvie of the BBC it seems he’s immune from the codes of practice with govern other broadcasters.

In all these apologies, not one has come from Mr Green himself, who sits in his castle in the sky, smirking his little smirk, chortling all the way to the bank.

No doubt the BBC will be issuing yet another apology from him soon, although I’m not sure how long the government and the regulators will allow the BBC Governors to keep flaunting their disregard for decent behaviour, and allowing the racist loud mouth bigot to keep pushing up his profile at the BBC’s expense.

Good points well made, never liked Green, always thought his bias was a little too obvious

Wow - another piece of quality forensic and insightful blogging, not. This sort of numptiness is what gives the Internet a bad name. You ever thought of working for News International or MacDonalds instead?

This article is spot on. I for one refuse to listen to the station altogether whilst they employ this jumped up little man.

I don’t mind a broadcaster admitting they follow a certain club and having light hearted rivalry with supporters. This man however is a disgrace and his biased bitter views should not be aired.

Rather than put up with this fool I highly recommend boycotting the station or emailing the beeb with your opinions (not that it will make a bit of difference). It will make you feel better though.

The BBC constantly give airtime on both radio & television to Kelvin ” The Truth ” MacKenzie, an individual who makes Alan green seem like George Washington.
why dont you have a go at them about that?

In my humble opinion, Green is one of the worst, but BBC inaccuracies and tabloid style garbage is now not unusual for the BBC. Their style has changed over the last few years from a news reporting organisation to a tabloid type channel. I choose not to buy/subscribe to this type of journalism but unfortunately I cannot choose not to pay my TV licence.
          We pay Green’s wages!!!

Alan Green has been the bastion of crap broadcasting for a long time now. His constant abuse of England players during internationals and his racist views are something that the tax supported BBC need to address. For me he is in the same league as Big Ron & Jimmy Hill….oh and by the way…Boz have a word with yourself.

My God, after decades of the likes of you calling scousers thieves, you’re now suddenly standing up for them

Is this just because Alan Green is a Liverpool supporter?

It is very noble of you to stand up for scousers, but I very much expect that the next time Liverpool play at say White Hart Lane you’ll be there singing ‘Sign on’, that’s if you actually go to games which I doubt

You do seem to have some sort of obsession with Liverpool so maybe you are a Chelsea supporter rather than a Spurs supporter, in which case I apologise - to Spurs supporters

In the meantime, please stay off our side

What a load of rubbish! I heard the comments alleged to be controversial during the Everton v Reading game. It was a light-hearted remark that anyone would jokingly say to a friend and certainly was not a serious implication that Mr Stallone’s car would have been vandalised because of the area it was in. It’s plainly obvious that you have a personal vendetta against the journalist in question and other commentators are just being bitter towards the BBC. I suggest you try to grow up a little and find something a bit more purposeful to do with your life than to vitriollically attack someone just because they have a better job than you.

Darren, you seem to consider the phrase “a pathetic stunt from a B list celebrity” a light hearted attack rather than the fit of jealousy (Green by nature?) everyone else saw it as.

Maybe you should be directing your advice to Mr Green ” try to grow up a little and find something a bit more purposeful to do with your life than to vitriollically attack someone just because they have a better job than you”?
