Blackburn's Reid out for season
Injuries have ruined the 2006-07 season for Reid
Blackburn's Republic of Ireland international Steven Reid will miss the rest of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in training.
It is a further setback for the 25-year-old midfielder, who has made only three appearances this season after suffering a serious back injury.
"We're desperately sorry for him," chairman John Williams told the official club website.
"He worked so hard to get fit and was close to a return to action."
Reid, who has 17 caps for the Republic, began his career at Millwall before joining Blackburn for £2.5m in July 2003.
He signed a new four-year contract last summer but was sidelined for four months after suffering a stress fracture of the back playing for the Republic against Germany in early September.
(which may put the blocker on any Neill transfer till the summer)
