Toffees stuck on bid for Barton

With Simon Davies apparently set to join Fulham, Moyes is looking to bolster his midfield and has apparently made Barton his top target.

The 24-year-old only signed a new four-year deal at Eastlands in July but the Toffees are ready to trigger a release clause in the contract by tabling a £5.5million bid.

Merseysider Barton was on Everton's books as a youngster and Moyes will attempt to lure him back to Goodison with a £35,000-a-week deal.:whatever:

Citeh have just declined their approach.

Headline story on the BBC now too. Incidentally the article describes him as a lifelong Blue, which ends a long-running forum debate over Barton’s allegiances.

He was a blue as a kid then was ****ed off about how they treated him so started supporting us (If you can call it supporting after dropping his Everton lurrrrvvvv at the drop of a hat but he was only young), doubt that would affect him going there, he's a footballer afterall and money talks so if they're offering more than his City contract...................

He should just stay at the bigger club he's at though.

He's mentioned several times he supported Everton growing up, in saying that if he were to leave Citeh his agent said he'd only intersted in joining a top 4 side and you can't blame him can you.
Everton a step up? Not being biased here but i DON'T think so.
