    The impact of the mercenary

That is exactly what's hurting chelsea now.

Buying expensive stars is great, when everything in the garden is rosey.

But when the going gets tough, the greedy mercenaries get found out and it exposes the lack of hunger.

Most of those players at Chelsea went for the money and lack the desire and passion required to slug it out, when times are hard. You dont win titles by playing nice passes and displaying exquisite touches when you're 3-0 up and playing keepball. You win titles by working your backsides off and putting your body on the line, to cover the holes that appear when things arent going your way.

That's why titles are earnt, not bought,

And that's why, in the shape of players like Ashley Cole, Ballack, Kalou and Shevchenko, Chelsea's title challenge is dying out.

They're here for the money and the glory, but they arent prepared to give 100% to actually earn it.

The big money mercenaries. Aside from not wanting Man Utd to win the title, the exposure of these mercenaries, through the form of their failure, is extremely satisfying to watch.

    I thank you.

I think Ashley Cole has been brilliant for Chavski this season.

I don't think that's the case, as most of these players have proved during the last couple of years that they have the desire and passion. I think that's the best quality this Chelsea team possess ; quality brought on and nurtured by José Mourihno himself (us against them mentality).

Yes, they've been found lacking on that front on Saturday, but that was mostly due to the fact that we played well and didn't let them have a foothold in the game.

Sevchenko aside, I don't think that Chelsea will surrender their league title without a whimper. Certainly not José. The coming weeks will be make or break for them.

Chelsea are suffering from the Galacticos mentality of some of their players, however, they are suffering more from their defensive fragility. Terry coming back will make a huge difference to their team, and I expect them to become incredibly difficult to beat again. Sad but true

Hopefully when they start to recover their solidity, we'll have stolen a march on them.

Good post. I thought it was an impressive feat of management that this did not happen sooner.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
