His mistake was getting of on the wrong foot with players he already had, but they did have their heads in the clouds as he rightly put it.

I'm saying they are nothing more than average Squad players. Mercenaries who feel nothing for the club.

      Agreed

Considering that two of the players, Upson & Neill, have included a get out clause in their contract (if WHU are relegated) shows that they feel nothing at all for their new club.

When they sacked Pardew they put the nail on their coffin and they should get all the **** they deserve. The way they handled that whole saga was pathetic after all he'd achieved with them. Maybe he lost the dressing room, maybe not.

When I was listening in to 606 a while back West Ham fans were calling in 'Sack Pardew, he's got to go', and where are they now...

What defines these players as 'mercenaries'?

I very much doubt that Javier grew up in Bunos Aries with a picture of King Kenny on his wall yet i'm more than happy to have him in our team.

I just don't get this mercinaries argument.

Neil and Upson's get out clauses work both ways. If the club stays up both players will probably stay and continue to earn somewhere between the 40k & 80k they are reportedly on. If West Ham go down they will not want to continue paying players such large wages and no doubt the players will not want to drop down a division so West Ham will be able to sell the players for a relativly small fee in order to get them off their books.

              Simple really.

I know what you're saying Spud but I wouldn't let a player sign a contract with a get out clause in it. Never.
If Neill thought so much about West Ham - why not just sign the contract - without the clause? It show's he's committed to their cause. This way - Neill is just committed to playing in the Premier League.
                Liverpool born and bred.

The clause is a two way thing. You'll probably find that the club would have wanted it for the very reasons i've previously explained. No way can West Ham afford to pay him the 60k a week he's getting just now if they are relegated.

Think of his current wage as a type of incentive to help keep the club in the premier league.

Mate of mine, WH fan, bet £150 at 15/1 on this result. Scooped a little over £2k.

Clearly a pessimistic (if slightly richer) West Ham fan then.

I was Best Man at a West Ham fan's wedding on Saturday. Did my speech when they were 3 down and was soooooo close to putting a couple of digs in. Problem was most of the other guests there were from the East End and I didn't like my chances of getting through the rest of the day unscathed if I took the piss too much.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

West Ham seem to have a good set of candidates for the most stupid and positionally unaware defences the Premiership has ever seen. Seriously I think that Neill and Upson would have made a big difference, without them I can't see any way for them to escape relegation.

A Mercenary is a player that turns down the chance to play for a club where he can compete in The CL for a team that is about to be relegated, because the second club offers him more money. Obviously Improving his game is not what it's about. It's not like Liverpool werent offering him a Decent wage?

                              Or

A player that abandons the club that gave him a chance to play for a club that is bound for the Championship, especially when the Club He's abandoning has a much better chance of Premiership Football next year. And the reason for the Swap - Once again more money. Not thinking about what's Best for his career

JM is a different case. He wants First team football. He wasnt getting it at West Ham. I'm sure he was probably paid a Better salary at West Ham than he is at Liverpool. If he was a mercenary, he would have stayed at West Ham and collected his Wage every week. I would never say JM is a Liverpool Fan, but he obviously wants to play Football and That's good enough for me

And to think of all the hype from the fans about Mash and Tevez arriving and that they'll be in Europe next year.....just makes me laugh now hahaha

I remember someone had it in their signature that whoever signed Carlos Tevez would win the Premier league
